Replacing Broken Step Rivets
Recently i read a post, not sure if in MOC, about broken rivets for the Montana step & someone posted pics of a (McMaster-Carr?) shoulder bolt they used to replace them. I can't seem to find the post or pics, which had the bolt dimensions. I need to replace several broken/breaking rivets & want to get the right parts. Can anyone direct me to that post? Thanks!!

Just for clarity, which Post had the answer and what shoulder bolt size fixes the problem.
After the third rivet breakage, I replaced the flexi-flyers with Glow Steps. Best solution ever.

Replaced 2 of my rivets with same size stainless bolts with stainless washers & locking nuts. Simple fix

Yep, had the same problem and did this exact sane fix when we had SOB.Still there several years later when it went down the road hitched to someone else's TV.

I wouldn't even bother trying to patch the factory springboard steps after getting the Torklift Revolution steps. They are legit!

Drawback of bolt & nut is that drawing them tight puts pressure on the step braces, causing them to bind. something like a shoulder bol tallows them to rotate freely while the bolt is still securely tightened.

I used regular bolts and washers. First drill out rivet. I used 3/8" bolt, drill hole to just fit. Fit bolt, washers, and nut. Tighten nut until step is solid but can still move. I then used a second "jam nut" to lock first nut in place. Still working after 4 years.

Just go to the hardware store and buy a bolt with enough unthreaded/shoulder to clear the framework, cut off any excess length and use a Nylock nut.
