Water leak behind water heater

I seem to have a small leak, more of a drip behind the water heater. How do I get bck there to inspect. Maybe the water heater is removed from the outside. I could remove the panel inthe basement storage but it is a long way back to thewater heater. This is a 2018 3791 RD. I am shying away from jumping into this without know just what I am doing. We are full time so we need to use water.
Anyone had their water heater out? Any help is appreciated.
John

Where is the water dripping to? Inside the trailer or in the external water heater compartment?

You can remove the panel in the bottom of the pantry in the kitchen to access the rear of the water heater. I believe there’s 4 screws

Depending on the water involved you may find, like we did last week, that the tank has rusted thru and the drip is coming from the small hole that has started.

Phil, Your 2020 must be laid out different than My 2018. My pantry is in the slide out. The water heater is in the forward section ahead of the slide out. Right next to the furnace. Thanks anyway.

John, you can access the back of the hot water heater through the inside of trailer by removing the panel (note the 2 screws into the floor) in center bottom "butler pantry cabinet" (not in the slide out) . I had the same problem in my 2018.5 3791 RD. Sorry adding a pic isn't working.

I found the panel to remove and did so. Everything was bone dry back there. I am going to go into the basement storage and remove panel to get behind convenience panel. I know thire is bunch of connections and the leak must be behind there. Water must be traveling along something and dripping out by water heater.. I am going to wait a couple of weeks before I start unloading basement to get in there.

Every Montana we've ever bought had connections loose back there, on the 2017 there were about four of them.

I had a Jayco that developed water leaks (yes, multiple leaks!) in the area near the water heater. I found that 1/2" PEX tubing and shark bite fittings worked well to fix the leaks. I had to replace several hoses because the crimp connects from the factory were failing and the fitting at the top of the water heater was leaking. It was not an easy fix but I managed to get the right hoses replaced. I did one hose at a time with the shark bite (press-on fittings) and it worked out well. It's not rocket science but it's not easy either. I had time so it wasn't too bad. Good luck...
