I put those $ in solar and an inverter charger. Replaced the original battery package with four 6 volt deep cycle batteries at about 10% of the cost of a similar lithium bank. I am willing to check my water occasionally for that saving.

I did the same but I went to AGM Go-power 4 6 Volt battery with their 510 Watt kit and 3,000 inverter with built in converter not cheap but compared to Lithium and with AGM batteries they don't need vented and water and they have a 5 year warranty.

If you calculate the 2. set of AGM, Golf Cart Bats whatever into it... the Lithium will still be operating then and should have 2 times the lifespan as of AGMs or similar

I personally calculated the don't worry factor and the batteries I might have killed already.

Battery charger

Just read where someone said that you had to have the battery disconnect on for the batteries to charge is this so or on A 3820FK.
Had power go out last night and went to turn batteries on and were dead for the 2nd time these are new batteries 6 volts.
Does anyone know where you can get a wiring diagram of the wires at the battery had to replace all of the wiring due to rat damage wondering if I have something not Connected correctly.
Thank you

Is this true for all Montana's I have a 2016 3820FK whose batteries are going dead. All the power readings appear to be normal at the converter

ABS,

The battery switch must be on (turned to where the key will not come out) for the batteries to charge. With your rig hooked to shore power look at the battery voltage, it should be over 13 volts if it is charging.

I do not have a wiring diagram.

The disconnect switch status of ON and OFF is very confusing. 12V current will flow from the converter to the batteries ONLY when the red switch is in the position where it can't be removed.

Measure the voltage AT the batteries to see if you are getting a charge form the converter.

I see Zack is a much quicker typist than I.

I have read all thru this thread and have this simple question for the OP.

While plugged in to shore power you must have 12V coming out of the converter as your 12V appliances are working. i.e. refer etc.

Go to the batteries and take a reading. Then move the battery disconnect to the opposite position it is in and see what the batteries read.

Carl,

You are typically faster and more accurate.

Thank you very much, I was told by the goober at the dealer that it was to separate running it on DC or AC so I have wasted 1 maybe two sets of batteries now by not allowing them to charge, I feel like the goober.

Thank you

Thank you
Just charge with a maintainer charger hooked directly to the batteries and you will always get a good charge. I have plug in pigtails permanently installed on my batteries so it is very easy to connect and disconnect. When I park my rv if I let it sit for 6 months then I will only have to add a little water at about 3 months. I charge 2 Trojan 6 volt batteries and have not had any problems. Using the maintainer saves the converter.

I see I'm 4 days late but curious if RAM MONTANA HIGH COUNTRY found the converter. I will agree they often are in back of circuit breaker housing. MY 2017 353RL HC converter IS mounted remote from breakers. See in picture with basement rear panel removed MOUNTED HIGH ON CEILING (arrow pointing to it) .
Love the wire and plumbing nightmare. Slowly working on making it neater.
Equipment list that came with owners manuals (Stove, TVs, water pump, etc.) Should have brand, model, serial number listed. Google it to see what it looks like.
Photo is a WFCO MODEL WF-9865 (65amp) with charge modes "float" = 13.2 VDC, "absorption" 13.6 VDC, and "bulk" = 14.4 VDC.

Best of Luck finding problem.

Thank you for the time and pic

I'm guessing you're asking if the converter is OK for AGM batteries? If so, then yes the converter should be find for any flooded/wet cell or AGM batteries, even gel batteries. Some of the newest model converters have a switch to make them compatible with lithium batteries. Sadly, mine does not.
