ok, so I am still on this issue. I have my camper home at the moment. The campground is going to change out the meter while I am gone, to rule out a bad meter. Im still perplexed about the amount of electric I am using. I am still at twice as much as the guy next to me, and he has 2 fridges on when he is not there, one of them is a large, 4 door RV fridge, and his usage is half what mine is. I have a norcold 2118, uses 6 amps, about 20kwh per day. Does anyone else know there usage for the fridge? Doses this sound normal? I cant figure out why my camper is using so much juice when I am not there....

Friends of ours in Florida pay about $75.00 per month and they are there for 6 months Oct to April and they don’t go cheap on electric but run their HW Heater on LP. That being said I think you were overcharged for that period of time seems like a lot for a CG especially when you really didn’t run the AC systems which tent to use the most besides your Microwave and Hair Dryer

I agree, but I am trying to stay off the actual rate the charge doller wise. I am looking for usage numbers in kwh, what other people with units similar to my size, what the actual usage is.

Have the power company come out and check the power, meter. I have seen bad meters before.

Kozzy,

I just used 877 kwh for June. Sorry I can not break down the usage for fridge, wh or ac. Used ac on average about 5 hours a day. We have the Norcold 4 door RV fridge.

Based on this thread, I got interested in our use age too. Over the past few weeks I have been monitoring our KWH use. In Central Florida, smoking hot, both ACs on, the main room is set to High during daytime, HW on electric. We averaged about 58 KWHs a day over a 2 week period. Then we recently left our rig for 10 days, everything off accept microwave, and coffee pot clocks. AC was off and HW was off. So basically only running our Norcold 2118, we used 157 KWHs in exactly 10.25days (246) hours. Hope this helps with your question. Joe

Hi,

here is the usage from our rented out site in South Carolina.
We have a continuous renter on it since April, so you can see a 24/7 usage from full timers, I guess.

Red Out kWh
06/16/19 703
05/16/19 536
04/16/19 283

Mike

In Missouri last month we used 83 kWh @ .125 We have residential refer, washer dryer, w/h on electric no ac used as it was cool and rainy There was also a $26 water, sewer, and trash pickup added to bill. That plus $300 lot rent. Everything seems reasonable to me

Is there a street light or irrigation pump or ETC. near you?. My next door neighbor at our old park had a very large bill when he moved on that lot and found out that they hooked the street light into his meter. But that's not deliberate to him as that spot he is on was a temporary lot for overnighters and they didnt pay electric. but now hes is there full time and he pays electric.
But only found out at night when the light was on and his camper was turned off. They fixed it and gave him a credit on the light usage on his future bill.

Thank you for this!!! This is just what I needed. So it looks like you average about 15kwh a day with just your fridge, and a few clocks. Thats what I am averaging. I use about 90-95 kwh in a 7 day stretch, when just my fridge, and a few clocks are running. I guess I can stop banging my head against the wall. These norcold 2118 fridges are electric HOGS for sure. the grand design right next to me has a 4 door Dometic fridge, and he uses HALF of what I use. Either that, or the sun hits my unit just right and keeps the fridge side of my camper warmer, causing it to run more...

Thanks to you all, this really helps me look at my numbers. This is the first time I have been seasonal and paying for electric, and I could not understand why the bill is like it is, but it looks like it is normal, they just use a lot of juice, in part due to the norcold 2118 fridge. For June, I used a total of 449 kwh, I was there using every weekend, but no AC

i dont think so, but ill find out today or tomorrow when I go back. I took my camper off the site and went to lake George for a week, when I go back if the meter moved, ill know something is up. The park was supposed to change out the meter head too, just to make sure.

Kozzy,

With the rate you are paying for electricity you might save $ running your fridge on gas.

I was thinking about running the fridge in gas while I am not there, but I not sure how long one or both of my propane tanks will last on gas, and I dont want to loose all my food.
I also have a mini fridge in my basement, I was thinking about bringing that up, and using that when I am not there as well , and shutting down the Norcold. I have noticed that the sun directly hits that side of my monty, and i think that causes the fridge to run more. When I was in lake george this past weekend, In the shade, I noticed the fridge was not running as much as it does in my seasonal site.

I also have a hardwired progressive industries surge protector, I cant see that drawing any power, but I did think of bypassing that for a few days to see if it made a difference.

I would turn the ice maker off while you are gone.

National Grid, May 17 to June 27 ours was ~$53 for just about 450kWh. 100% Norcold 1210 operation, a/c on at 75 degrees when there (if needed) and set at 88 when gone. The HW heater was turned on every day at about 5:00PM and off at ~8:30. We have spent 15 nights there so far this year which is less then our normal summer stay so far

That is in line with me, i am at about 450kwh for a month during that time frame.
My bill is much higher, but I have already established that the place I stay rapes us with the rate they charge... thats another issue all together.
I am finding that the Norcold fridge is the reason for the high usage, it draws 6 amps. The Grand Design next to me has a 4 door dometic fridge, it draws 3-3.5 amps. Explains why his bill is half of mine LOL
