Where to keep your pets?
We are heading to Las Vegas and Palm Springs the middle of April. Does anyone have suggestions as to where we should board our Max while there?

When we've had to find a place and didn't know where to turn we've used Petsmart. In larger cities they have a pet hotel as a part of the store. Not cheap, but they really took good care of our cats and the cats seemed to like it also.

We found great HOME CARE for our 2 Golden Retrievers through dogvacay.com 1-855-DOG-VACAY. You have a chance to review different profiles of dog sitters and the rates are much better than most kennels.

I use Elite Pet Care of Palm Springs. I love these gals in Palm springs. Your dog will stay in a private home and they get the best care. I will not leave my dogs with anyone else. Here is there web page. http://elitepetcarepalmsprings.com/doggie-day-care/

Dogs go everywhere we go.
If they cant go somewhere we leave them in the truck with the A/C running while we go inside.
Been doing that for years.
We have had dogs in the past that stayed in the RV...we have not tested the current pair yet.
The Texas Heeler is high energy dog...we trust him but we dont want him to add a dog door like this...

I see you're from Austin. We're coming to Austin with our 3yo Golden for a long weekend in November. He's mellow for his age and we take him camping often. He loves it. Staying at the Austin East KOA Holiday. I've read Austin is a pretty dog friendly city and wondering if you have some good spots we should take him while there? Best dog parks nearby? Best restaurants that allow dogs on the patio?
Thanks!
Bryan

Bryan - we live out in the country about 45 minutes northeast of downtown Austin, and we don't spend much time in the city. I made the grinding commute to work in Austin for 35 years...thanks to covid I now work from home 95% of the time.
Here are some links to pet friendly establishments in Austin

The other issue for us is that from 2008-2020 we had a female border collie-mix rescue that was not good with other dogs, so we did not go many places with her. We are "testing" our current Texas Heeler for situations with other dogs...the jury is still out. Our Aussie is a real sweet teddy bear and he is no problem with other dogs.

I haven't met up with a Texas Heeler, but my friend has a Heeler and she's super smart, although she like's to run the roost, which is a common trait in the breed I think.
Thanks again!

We are told that a Texas Heeler is a combination of a Blue Heeler and an Aussie.
In January 2020 I came face to face with him and his owner on the dog food aisle of Tractor Supply. I bent down and petted him and made a joke "Buddy if she doesn't treat you like a king - you can come home with me!" The lady said "I have been praying about this". She gave him too us on the spot - more or less. The dog was free. The cost to fix the fences so he can't jump over them - $1500. He is a very good dog and getting better all the time. He surprised us on his first RV trip last week with how "chill" he was. He likes to bark at cows and horses he sees in pastures. We are working on curing that habit.

For short day trips our furry little alarm clocks sleeps the day away in the fiver as well as when we are around home. Otherwise she goes with us on all trips. She sleeps with us in her own bed atop our bed. Corny, but she is one of the family.
