Torn Floor - Anyone else?

I'm having an issue with the kitchen slide on our 3850Fl. The corner of the slide near the refrig is tearing the vinyl floor. I have removed the panel to look under the slide but cannot find the cause. Do any of you have any experience with this?
Any help appreciated.

Yes sir I do. Found it before it was a month old. Is in the shop right now for that and a few other issues. I think they want to put a roller under that corner like the rollers under the bed. CW also told me they have a man that will fix the little tear hole that was started by that slide. We will see!!!! We traveled all last winter with it and just slid a piece of the carpet under that little teflon shoe that Keystone mounted under that corner of the slide and caused no more damage the whole winter. Havn't seen the results of the fix but it better be good. Good Luck, Brent

Sounds like an slide adjustment issue, and since your unit is a 2014, assume warranty action by your dealer.

There have been several reports of this problem, and knock on wood, we have not experienced it yet. I am considering adding some of those felt-like stick-ons to the bottom of the cup-shaped slider to see if that can prevent it from happening in the future. Perhaps it would make the slide contact with the flooring a little more slippery? Just a thought and I know it does not help those who have already experienced the torn floor.

Since it seems to be a known issue with that model it sounds like the same issue the others have. Just to be sure, however, check the underside of any carpeting that might be used to cover the edge. I saw an Alpine with that problem and it was staples used to attach the carpet coming out.

There is no carpet in that area, it is the linoleum or whatever Keystone uses, the kitchen slide slides over the linoleum. The slide is equipped with an inverted cup that is supposed to be teflon, but evidently the teflon is not slippery enough. It may be worth checking the bottom of the teflon cup to see how it is attached to the cabinetry. Knowing Keystone, it may well be stapled on and have protruding staples??

A very small object caught under the slide do the damage. On our 06 3400 we had that problem and found that a small piece of gravel had made its way under the slide and tore the flooring.

Our 340 RLQ had wood trim around the base of the kitchen slide and as most wood trim in these things it was mounted with air nailers. Ours had several of the nails that did a 90 degree bend after hitting either a hard spot of another nail. These shot out the bottom of the trim and dragged over the vinyl gradually slicing through the vinyl like a utility knife. I finally ripped the 3 pieces of trim off the slide and took long nosed needle nosed pliers and located the offending nails and removed them. I then re installed the trim with a similar air nailer but places a small (1/8) inch steel as a shield during the nailing process. When finished I checked a flash light for any nails hanging down and found none. I have had no further cuts in the floor, but the original cut is still there. It will most likely stay there as we had already installed a new full surface glued vinyl floor.. Oh Well..

Bingo is correct, there is some type of Teflon? slide under that corner. As best that my fingers tell me, it is screwed on. I have placed one of the Teflon furniture slides under the corner. We'll see what that does. Next stop, back to the dealership for adjustment and vinyl repair. Mild frustration.

We had a similar problem with the slide out on our living quarters horse trailer. The slide out was out of adjustment and was caused by operating the slide without leveling the trailer first. With our Big Sky we make every effort not to touch the slides until the unit is first leveled.
