LCI Level Control "Comm err ck wiring"

In our brand new, not a month old, 2021 3121 RL we drove from Laredo to Del Rio through rain and wet streets. When we got to the destination and tried to set up for the night we were stuck. Our Lippert leveling control panel gave us an error message of "Comm err ck wiring". We called service, which was closed of course, and then called a friend to help. We disconnected wires and power but, nothing helped. We got up the next morning and went to the panel again and all was just fine. Has anyone ever seen this?

Next time it happens, find the controller and un-plug it. Wait a couple minutes and plug it in again. It will factory reset. Not guaranteeing it will work but worth a shot. If that doesn't work, it may need a new controller

Or hold down all four arrows at the same time. This will also reset the system

Thanks, We did this with guidance from our help. It stayed with the error message until the next morning when everything was fine.

It may be getting some water intrusion, then dried out overnight. I'd check to make sure the box for the control panel is sealed well.

Comm Err Check Wiring

We are getting this same error. We have unplugged & replugged. We even bought a new controller screen, plugged it in and got the same error. Fuses are good. No water intrusion. Would appreciate any other ideas.

What kind of weather are you in? There are a lot of components that could be the cause. You could have connection issues with the front, rear sensors or the controller. Looks like your rig came with the 3.0 four point electric legs. Check out the attachment.

Thank you for your reply and the attachment. That looks like our components, at least what we can see of them. We live in East Tennessee, so we get a variety of weather. This spring has been both warm and cold. Right now, we are experiencing several days of rain. But the components we could get too were dry.

Start by unplugging and reconnect the controller plugs and check all the big green fuses.

In your diagram, there is a 6-point controller with what looks like green fuses. Is that what you are talking about? We have not seen anything like this on our camper. We have pulled, checked and reinserted all other fuses, and have verified all the breakers were on in the fuse box inside the unit.

The touchpad is merely an interface..The brains of the leveling system should be in the front compartment in the overhead and almost centerline side to side. All communication ports will need to be checked. If all the connectors for each comm port plug is seated tightly, suggest you pull the comm port plugs one at a time and look very closely at the pins on the wiring side of each plug. There are rare instances of the pins inside of the plugs not being fully seated and locked into place.

Both the original poster and the second one both have the hydraulic leveling systems.

Harlow has a 2021 3121 RL
Hilda925 has a 2015 3611RL
These are both Montana's, not High Countries, so neither had the electric 3.0.

Ours is the hydraulic leveling system, too.

Guess I should have researched the hydraulic systems. I wrongly assumed those would have still utilized the 3.0 style control board to keep track of Hal effect sensors at each leveler. I'll download the LevelUp literature today to become more knowledgeable. Thanks for sharing.

The comm error on your 6 point hydraulic level up system should be fairly easy to isolate.. The front Fwd control unit "located inside your front forward cargo door up high" is where everything interfaces to to each other..
.. Level up control panel
.. Fwd control sensor
.. Rear remote sensor
.. all connections leading to the hydac valve coils, hi pressure cutoff switch and dual polarity solenoid

I would remove each connection on the front forward sensor as well as the Control panel itself and reseat.. Unfortunately the rear remote sensor splice connection is located at the rear remote sensor located behind last axle center up under the coroplast covering

Hydraulic or electric have very similar components. Hydraulic is actually easier to check connections as their all in the pump bay. The only remote connection is the rear sensor.
