AC for Bedroom

I’m looking to buy a AC for the bedroom and would like to get Quietest and lowest profile one. What are your recommendations. Thanks.

We have 2 Dometic 15K ducted quiet AC units. The one in the BR is also a 16.5K heat pump. Any unit that can dump is going to be noisy.

Your 3400 may not have the ducting so you will be looking for an a/c like a 13.5 Penguin 2 with the non ducted interior control s. I found this one to be about as short as they come: Dometic 640315C. Just looking at the current price - doubt it will be as low today. It is reasonably quiet and puts out good chilled air that actually will cool our entire 38 foot 5er. The cooled air 'sinks' down the stairway

You will need a dedicated 20 amp service with 12AWG wiring at the existing vent to do the installation along with a dedicated circuit at the breaker box. I hope your 5er has 50 amp service as you will need that ampacity to run two units along with other appliances.

Dave it is prewired for second a/c. Don't know about the breaker, I will check it out.

If it's prewired, you should be in good shape - though I would double check. There should be a cover on the ceiling near the vent with capped off wiring already in it ready to be connected to the a/c. If it's powered up, check via a voltmeter and turn each breaker off, one at a time if not marked. The wiring may may have a light on the circuit, but may be dedicated. I used a 20 amp outlet as a way to connect the a/c pigtail with the in place wiring instead of wire nuts. That outlet is only used occasionally with a vacuum but never while the a/c is on.

Hardest part of adding that a/c is getting an odd shaped 100 pounds on the roof. Cleaning a few years worth of Dicor around the roof vent flange isn't a joy either.

Different model but on my 06 it did have a dedicated 20amp circuit. Once I got the trim off the ceiling vent I found by moving a heavy paper board baffle I could tie the new A/C into the existing duct work. Not knowing that in advance I had ordered the inside trim piece in dump configuration. Since I already had it, that is what I used. In hind sight would have preferred the ducted trim.
