Montana Roof

We are looking at a new 2018 coach and its between the Montana and an SOB. Question. Are the Montanas still using EPDM roof along with the stapled radius corners on there 2018 models? our 2013 has the same roof and i hate it. at least the staple problem and now with other types of roof systems available. if Montana still using the old system why are they?

I'v looked at at SOB and they do the same thing as keystone does they all use staple it's cheaper and faster the using screws that mite hold better.

Like friend who owned an RV dealership said. Campers are like people once you get the skin off of them there isn’t much difference in them.

I've had a dealer I trust tell me that putting screws in those didn't hold, in the long run, better than staples and so he repairs them with staples again now. The screws coming up also tended to do more damage to the roof.

Montana Roof with Screws

I have a 2014 Montana and it had the problem with the staples coming up. My dealer was able to get the ok from Keystone to have them replace the staples with screws. I have not had any problems with the screws coming up but I think the dealer did not do a great job because I have more bubbles in my roof. Keystone said that will not hurt anything.

I had this problem with my last trailer (FR). When they took it back to the factory to fix it, I was told the secret to the staples is to alternate the direction on the staples. If all the staples get angled in the same way, they come out. Don't know if it's true, but I didn't have a problem after they fixed it.

I have had good luck with both our 06 3400 and this 13 3402 Big Sky. No staple problems, no leaks.

Hi

I don’t know what they used on our 2009 Montana but roof problems are not one of the problems we have had.
