WestLake tires

Purchasing a 350 QBH on Saurday. Westlake 235/89/16 are standard on them. I have negotiated for GY614 to replace them. Before that happens. I wanted to see if there was any good or bad reviews of these Westlake tires. My assumption maybe wrong. Is just another name of a Blowmax Chinese tire. Comments or suggestions are appreciated. I have searched the forums but came up empty so hopefully I am not repeating a prior discussion on this.

350 QBH?? is that a Mountainer? anyway,They use Westlake's on other SOB's as well IMO they are no better or worse than Trailer Kings or any other ST e rated tire that Montana and everybody else uses,on lighter trailers they are fine just not for the Big Boys

Typo 235/80/16. I am tending to agree with you. Will make the dealer stick to his offer of paying for 2 GY614 and I buy the other 2

15,500 is definitely G country. One of the big boys as Jimmy says. That's not a bad arrangement, getting the dealer to pony up for half your upgrade. And you've avoided a potential problem at the outset. Good move.

Get them to split the cost of TPMS if you can, also. We use the TST Flow Thru, but there are a number of good options. Good job on the G614's. 13,000 miles to Alaska and back with no tire issues - priceless.

I already have a TST system on my current rig. Thanks everyone for the information.

Got the G614 installed today. What a difference in tires. The tire tech commented on the weight and sidewall of westlake's He said once the air was out of them and off the rim, they almost collapsed vs the construction of the 614's. No comparison. Put 105 psi in all 4 tires and ready to roll!!

Why of course they're great tires... they're made in China.
A wise move to a much better tire. Enjoy.

Here's an article you may want to read: http://www.carsdirect.com/car-repair...anies-to-avoid You will notice that Westlake is listed as one of the companies to avoid at all costs. Must be why they were the low bidder.

One other thing I forgot to mention, when I picked up from the dealer I ask to they check the tire pressure. Of course we did. So my double check behind them found them to be 67 PSI. From what I have read, anything below 10% is considered flat. So makes me wonder if it had been driven from the factory that low as well. I had them aired up to 80 before I left. 60 miles later they were changed. Not sure if I should try to sale them on eBay or not. Wouldn't want someone to have a problem with them and then come looking for me.

I sold my Marathons on C list for $350. Farmer bought them to put on one of his trailers. Was glad to get them.

That would be my suggestion also. When used on farm trailers they're usually as good as any other considering what's going to happen to them.
