Mike,
The edges of the gears should not be rough. This link may help you.

Mike,
Just be careful retracting and stop 1/2 to 1 inch before fully retracted. You should not extend then past their 21" mark.
I hope this helps.

Before I went to Level-up I put a magic marker line on the legs where the max and min I could safely extend them was. If the line showed up when I was extending them I knew I needed more lumber, when it reached the shroud as I retracted them I got my finger off the switch before I did any damage.

Mike-When we purchased our 09 I found the gears dry but just some wear. I lubed gears with grease and the legs with 90w oil and everything works much better. Been 10 months and no signs of problems for us. Marking your legs for min-max usage is a very wise thing to do. I did.

I was lucky to not to have to replace the gears.

John,Thanks for your post. For whatever reason I had never thought about lubing my landing gears. We don't do a lot of traveling so the landing gears don't get a lot of use . We came back from vacation a couple of weeks ago and the landing gears started howling while going down. I didn't know what to do till I went to the moc website and there was your post. The landing gears are now running smooth and quiet. Three tablespoons of gear lube would have been enough for the leg screws!

I replaced my landing gear leg on one side a few years back. Really not too bad considering I'd never done it before. Have to finagle the leg around a bit to get it out of the brackets. Mine had bent slightly and was slow to go up and down. or not at all.....
Good luck.
p.s. I believe I emailed or talked with the assistant to Doug Olson and she was helpful.

Do as John suggests and call Venture. They are great to work with, have great instructions for anything you need to do, *AND* they have great prices. You can fix this. You could even upgrade to a two motor system and make lifting the RV a little less stressful (motor-wise).

Good luck buddy, 'This too shall pass.'
(No single person is given credit for the phrase 'This too shall pass.' It is a proverb that originated with Persian Sufi poets.)
