Hydrolic slide leak

I checked the search function but did not see anything on this. I have a 2001 3480rl and I just noticed a leak in the seal where the ram goes in. It's my Livingroom slide so it has the most pressure in and out. The leak is small but now I have seen it... Is there a way to replace the seal or do I have to replace the entire unit.

Have the ram replaced or repaired if you can. I had a bad ram, I believe it was a seal, replaced by Lippert last year. That big living room slide was hard to open and close. My wife would hit the button and I would be under the slide turning the bar to assist in the operation. As old as the ram is, if the seal can be replaced it might be quite a job.

In a closed hydraulic system, pressure is equal throughout the entire system. You'd be hard pressed to find a replacement seal assuming you have a ram that is serviceable. Many of the newer rams are cheap non serviceable throw-aways. I agree ... go with a new ram, other than dropping a portion of the belly pan, it's an easy bolt on procedure.

The nut on the end of the ram on my 2006 3400 was so rusted on the tech just cut it off with a torch. So good luck if you are electing to replace the ram yourself.
