Storms and electricity - or lack of??

Here we are in out first voyage of the year and it is has rained, rained, stormed, lightninged, thundered, everything except for hail (so far anyway!!). So yesterday morning, DW goes to start to dryer and it won't work. DOD (either dear old Dad or dumb old Dad??) is called to the rescue, so I begin the meticulous duty of checking breakers in the rig, venture out in the rain and check the pedestal breaker and everything is as should be. So in an utter state of confusion, I re-enter the rig and immediately notice that the fireplace is off, microwave is off, fridge is on propane, and then the realization dawns that it is not the rig's fault at all, it is the electricity that is off. Further investigative skills then reveal that the entire campground is without power. Have no worry, have no fear, dear old Dad now has a chance to redeem himself. DW is readying to panic since she has not done her hair yet and needs the use of the hairdryer. So we now have the opportunity to kick in the Onan generator for the first time and I am eager to give it a go. DW tells me that she will let me know when she needs the electricity, so I am on standby to come to the rescue!! The time approaches and dear old Dad is eager to prove his worth to the family unit once again and then it happens.......the daggone power comes back on before I can elevate myself to hero status. Drat!! Oh well, there will be another time.....perhaps???
Bingo

Funny story, Bingo. However, I've found that "hero status" is very short-lived. The fall from grace is all to easy and too quick.

Bingo, remember the ice storm of 2003? I tried to be a hero; anyway you’ve heard the story. I feel the pain!
