My thinking on tires is that the G614s are about the best you can get. However, IMHO, on 6k axles, they are a bit of an over priced over kill. I opted for a mid priced version of a different brand. I'm within the appropriate weight limits, they are American made, and I figure I'll have to replace them from age wear out long before the tread wears out. FYI, I got a price of $250 each for a set of G614s balanced and mounted.

The steel rims should be stamped with a "Max. Pressure Rating" on the inner side of the wheel. Most likely, they will not be rated at 110 PSI.

You will either have to crawl under there with a flashlight and a rag, or pull one of the wheels off of the trailer to know for sure.

thor, I just added the 614's to my rig. I got the tires from Sams Club for $215.73 each plus tax. I did have to pay $40.00 to join Sams but worth the savings. Wingfoot Goodyear Commercial Tire Center in Tucson wanted $247.00 and Beaudry RV wanted $359.00 and Discount Tire wanted $379. No brainer to me, I got mine at Sams and had Beaudry RV (we were already there in there CG), install them, they charged me $116. to balance and mount all 5. I felt I got a good deal. I must give credit to PSFORD99 for the idea of going to Sams Club. I owe him a great big Bobs Boy...Thanks again Greg....

BTW, Just because they are rated at 110 psi, you don't need to put that much air in them. Check the tire inflation and loading charts for that tire and inflate according to your actual axle weights. I run 100 psi in mine and am thinking of dropping back a little, I run pretty heavy but the tires have a large range.......I hope to have many years of good service from these tires. I have had my troubles with the Chinese Missions and Power King Towmax. NO MORE CHEAP TIRES FOR ME. If the 614's seem overkill to you, you might look at the Hankook F tire. Lonnie B, our resident tire expert, has written many recommendations about this time.

Phil,

Just curious, what are the date codes on the G614's that you got from Sam's Club? With such a great price, it makes me wonder if they are moving old stock, or if high volume allows for them to sell recent production tires (less than 1 year old) for so much less than everyone else.

p.s.
Any tire man worth their salt will not mount a tire on a wheel that exceeds the max psi of the wheel, it is way too dangerous!

Thor, I picked up a set of G614's in Gadston North Carolina after shredding the factory Goodyear tires on a cool summer day not over loaded and just limping along the highway.
They were $ 220.00 each and afterwards the GoodYear commercial dealer handed me a rebate for $25.00 each tire from Goodyear. I think i was lucky on that deal. Maybe right place at the right time. As for the tires, they are line American Express, i won't leave home without them.
