I have almost 9K on my Ram 3500 and have not seen it say anything about a regen yet. is it supose to be on a specal setting in the menu. to regester? I always have mine on the Average Milage or what direction and temp nothing else.
Don, I generally have my info center set like you. If memory serves me correct I started getting messages on the dash message center. I think it said "DPI 80% full" When the actual regen started I got messages on both the dash I/C and the overhead I/C "Regen in progress". It over rode the direction/ temp message. Jim

Regeneration and the DPF is here to stay on the newer diesel trucks so what we need to do is learn how this stuff works. IMO a EGT (pyro) is a must as the EGT will always let you know when you are in regeneration due to the higher temps. regen interval will vary with the type of driving you do.. Lots of city , start and stop, low speed = more frequent regenerations. Higher speed interstate driving...fewer regenerations.
Quality of fuel will also affect regeneration. On a long days pull of 300 miles or so at interstate speeds we may never go into regeneration or we may regenerate once. At the end of the day we see no difference in MPG. There is a lot of technical data on regeneration and DPF on the internet.Good stuff to know..

So, since this regen is automatic, what happens when you are ready to pull into your space at night and the things starts to regen, do I back out and drive until it's over? Sounds facetious, I know, but not trying to be. How important is it to keep driving until it's over? For those that still work, what about if you're just about at work, do you keep driving until it's over? I guess I need to get the GM handbook out and read up on this. We have had our '08 Chevy for over a year and never noticed a regen, almost 40,000 miles. Of course, I don't fixate on the tach to notice a 200 rpm difference either. I might look into an EGT gauge, although it seems if the engineers thought it was that important, one would think they would have put one on.

exav8tr, On my 2007.5 if it says Regen required on the console it will not go into the Regen mode until you get it up to 60 mph. And when it goes into that mode you need to drive up to 20 miles without going under 60,and do not put the cruse control on as this cancels the Regen. I did park mine overnight and do the Regen the next day. Also it did not take the 20 miles but it was cleared up in 8 or 9 miles.

Thanks for all the feedback
Larry

Thanks Jim,I didnt know it regestered the regen where the numbers are too. interresting I cant wait to see a re gen on my truck. exav8ter had a good question and I would like to read oppions on it, if your getting ready to close shop and hit the feathers just as the regen light goes on. does it remember that when you fire it up the next day and tell you it is going to happen again. I think I'm going to call dodge on that tomorrow.

Don, Let us know what Dodge tells you. I don't remember exactly but I think I got a message that said "Regen required soon" so I kept driving until it went into regen which was only about 5 minutes later. The actual regen lasted less than 10 minutes.
