Stiles, I know my fix (installing the MorRyde IS system) was costly, BUT, I am glad I, at least, did something to preclude this. Glad you found the problem while static and not due to an accident.

Stiles,

Thanks for posting pictures. I didn't see any safety supports under the trailer. I assume I'm simply not seeing them. And it looks as if the brake wires are really being stretched in that picture at the end. I think you said you were going to do a brake job as well as repack the bearings so I'm sure you'll check everything carefully.

It is disappointing to see that Keystone is still using the inferior shackles. They simply wear out too soon.

I'm sure glad you decided to do this job when you did. Otherwise you'd have been on the side of the road somewhere!

Dennis

On Edit: I looked at the pictures again and saw at least one support. Nice looking support.

Stiles looks similar to my version of junk removed and slowly coming together with one less worry.

Your de-lamination issue will be considered behind you or are periodic inspections in-order?

I like the Jack-stand under the frame...verses my 6x6 custom cut to provide fore and aft frame support.

The failures are not unique to Keystone. Most Manufacturers who use MOR/ryde (RE) as standard are put together the same way with basically the same components. You can be assured that I have had significant conversation with the MOR/ryde Technical Department.

As to the Rubber Spring failure, delamination can occur on the (IS) unit as well as the (RE) unit. Delamination has nothing to do with the shackles or bolts. However, I theorize that the spring bracket failed as a result of the delamination. If not it must have been a faulty weld job.

I have 2/3 of the brake shoe left, so I am good for at least another 10,000 on them. The inspection revealed that the wheel bearings were well lubricated with wheels spinning free and easy.

Thanks for the pic's. It's hard to believe that, on a new 08 rig it can have that bad of a problem. How many miles are on your rig?

Stiles,
Thanks for the heads up to this problem and the pictures. Looks like one more thing to check.
