Landing gear shear pins
I was not provided with a manual for the landing gear in my 5th wheel, 3400 RL 2005. Is this a Lippert system? Where do I egt shear pins, and what are specs for substitutes?
I think I sheared the pin on the drivers side. It looks easy to replace once I get one.

Radhazjoe,
You might want to check with H. John Kohl. He did some extensive leg work and posted some great pictures. Or try a search.

John will jump, I'm sure, but he used an allen wrench as a stop gap held on with masking tape until he could repair it.

If you sheared the pin for the square shaft it is a hex head pin with a reduced thread that sticks out the end of the shaft. Clearance it tight because it is close to the motor. This is where I used the allen wrench and tape as a temporary fix.
If you have messed up the landing leg then check this post.

I don't think this was designed as a shear bolt. It was just a way to tie things together. Mine is a Allen head bolt. If I wanted a shear bolt I would just use a grade 2 1/4 bolt. JMHO

I agree but we have had it shear. My did because the nut came loose. Something has to give.
Good luck.
