Synthetic oil in differential??

DC highly recommends changing to a synthetic gear oil in the rear end for heavy towing (5th wheel). Makes me wonder if they recommend it, why don't they ship them that way? Anyhow, I've been snooping around on the TDR website and am considering investing in a Mag Hytec differential cover and changing to synthetic (Redline, Mobil 1, Royal Purple, etc.). Anyone know anything about such, recommendations, experiences??
