When your staying out in one place for a lone time do you have to do anything with your slide outs or are they ok just staying open all the time?

I place a light coat of grease on the hydraulic cylinders to keep them from corroding. other than that nothing.

Ours are out for 6 months during the winter in Florida. We just wipe them down every once in awhile

We also leave them out for months wiping them occasionally. Wipe the jacks at the same time.

Our slides have been left out for months and have not had one problem with them. You should be fine.

I would use the recommendation of retracting/extending once a month just to keep things lubricated, then maybe relube them every 6 months. Even though I fulltime, we don't stay anywhere longer than 3 weeks, so the slides get used a couple times a month.

I guess it would also depend on the slideout usage. For example, the bedroom has a small slide and while we sleep on it every night, it doesn't extend very far. The kitchen slide which has the fridge and kitchen, gets occasional change to the fridge contents (refilling and using the contents) and we don't use the table very much. The living room has two slides on either side (desk and entertainment on one, sofa on the other). The sofa side gets use when we have visitors, which is rare.

That said, we move our slides at least every three weeks. If we will ever stay anyplace longer than a month, I hope I remember to try out the slides every month just to ensure things are working right. I'd hate to wait 6 months to find out my slides won't retract, especially if it's when I'm getting ready to leave and an expected mishap occurs that I could have taken care of some months prior.
