Incidentally, after towing around 1500 miles, I haven't noticed any issues with the size of the tires. There appears to be a small spot on the flare where the previous tire rubbed (my trailer had one 85 series LT tire as a replacement), but I can't tell that this has gotten any worse.
So far, so good. I'm happy.

I had the Marathons removed after the 1st trip. The 235/85/16E BFG Commercial T/A's fit with no problems. Our 2011 Mountaineer has a 6K GAWR, so the 3042# tire load limit ok

We just took delivery of our 2013 Mountaineer. It has Marathon tires. What I don't understand is why manufactures keep using these tires. You never read anything positive about a Marathon tire.
My Sunnybrook I traded I had put Maxxis tires on and if I swap out the tires on my Mountaineer it will be Maxxis. I never had the first problem with the Maxxis. Wife suggested tire swap between Sunnybrook and Mountaineer but Maxxis were 4 years old.

I plan to replace my Marabombs in the spring. This is what I am looking at:

If it matters to you ... your out of the rim width recommendation for that particular size. My rims on my 2011 are 6" wide. 265's recommend 7"-8" rims per the spec sheet.

Whoa! Good catch on that one Dieselguy. I better opt for the 235/85R16 tires. Thanks!

If your trailer came from the factory with Marabombs then LT trucks tires will be fine in fact a step up. And yes 235-85-16's are the size you need.
