They are accusing Ozz of distributing his own pictures to other picture storage places for distribution to other places. Shame on you Ozz for distributing your own stuff....
Actually Ozz, I would call the number and get this understood. Since you are on wireless moving around connecting from other places just like many others also do, the person who was using that same wireless method prior may have downloaded illegally if the complainant is monitoring IP addresses. It seems like the email address was using the IP address in question. If that's not your email address, I'd still call the number and let them know it wasn't you but I'd try to call not using my own phone, hmmmm.... just in case that number is suspect.
I wonder if the email address is for someone hminus?) connected to the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment? Is there such an outfit?
Ozz, how do you this to yourself so much?

Phony, phony, phony. I'd love to see the message headers on that e-mail. No way could they isolate your e-mail address from an originating IP.
Did there happen to be an attachment to that e-mail?
P.S. The oddest crap happens to you!

What a small world! I got this e-mail minutes after I read your post.
Revocation of CPA license due to tax return fraud allegations
Dear accountant officer,
We have received a notice of your recent assistance in income tax infringement on behalf of one of your clients. According to AICPA Bylaw Section 500 your Certified Public Accountant status can be terminated in case of the fact of presenting of a incorrect or fraudulent tax return on the member's or a client's behalf.
Please be notified below and respond to it within 14 days. The failure to respond within this period will result in suspension of your Accountant status.
It goes without saying I am not an accountant.
If your e-mail was like mine, there was a link in it that looked like a link to a .doc file. In my e-mail it links to a web site with a different domain than the e-mail supposedly originated from. Probably pornography.

Shame on you Pat! You should never help your clients try to file fraudulent returns. Did you actually open the attachment? That is the easiest way to get into your computer and your files! If I get anything like that, it automatically goes to the delete file and then delete it from there also, that is IF it even makes it to my computer since it is scanned pretty well by the virus unit and etc!

I'm a baaaaa-d accountant!
I'm not sure about all e-mail clients, but I use Thunderbird and I can "mouseover" a link and see what is without going there. In the Firefox browser you can do this also.
So noooo, I didn't go there, and I never open attachments in ANY e-mail if I don't know or can't verify the sender. A lot of times someone trying to send you a virus will make the e-mail look like it has (for example) a .doc document file embedded, but if you mouseover it, you may see that it's really an executable file or something else possibly malicious. Or, like in my e-mail example, a link to an external web site that's either porn- or drug-related.
And as an added precaution, I use a program called Mailwasher to screen my e-mails out on the mail server. Only after examining the e-mails will I download them to my PC; all the spam gets deleted from the mailserver and my PC never gets "dirty." I let my "example" in only after checking it out.

Hey Ozz,
Just to let you know the spam filter caught:
13 BBB complaints from Poland, Turkey UK, Azerbaijan, Kuwait...etc
Good thing I don't do business in those countries!
BTW, I also had 8 rejected ACH transactions
No rejected UPS shipments today....that is probably tomorrow.
A total of 59 spam messages just today...one on of 4 computers in the office
This stuff grows daily!

So, where do these people get your address for this stuff?
Here's one way: people forwarding emails messages without deleting the previous email addresses. I've received email with a hundred (or more) other email addresses attached to it because the send was too lazy or knowledgeable enough to delete them. Always delete them as a courtesy to the sender.
Another help: when sending an email (or forwarding one) make sure all the recipients are put into the blind copy spot. This means each recipient will only see their address listed and not everyone you sent the message to.

Some time ago I accidentally used my business e-mail account to send personal e-mails (easy to do in some e-mail clients without realizing it). Some of my friends are "forwarding junkies" and used my business e-mail address without blind-copying and sent it to who-knows-who. Now I get hundreds of spam e-mails a day at my business address.
Lessons learned:
Never use your business e-mail account for personal mail.
Never get attached to any particular e-mail account as you may have to jettison it someday.
My friends stink.

LOL at that last one! I have a friend who, despite being asked numerous times by myself and others, refuses to remove email address before forwarding messages. Henceforth, he rarely gets any email from me unless it's something person about him that I'm sure he won't forward.

I don't know if that email is bogus or not but that phone number and the name of the association is real and they do sue people for illegally uploading/downloading music. I wouldn't take them lightly
