Driveway dry dook

we are in dry dock as we usually are at this time of the year after our Winter stay. We do a complete cleaning, inspection, repair both inside and out.

This 3400 is five years old this week and we use it pretty good. It has seen blistering sun and high winds and many miles of bad roads.

Interior is holding up well carpeting is surprisingly in good shape.
Helen cleans it twice a year. The exterior shows signs of wear and tear but is also holding up well

For the first time we are noting graphics wear.We are seeing some shrinking, no peeling but in a couple of spots it looks like the glue came loose from the bottom of the graphic. Lots af dings from trees and bugs. Looks OK from a distance but the wear is there.

Actually we are not upset. we got good wear out of these graphics and we have a friend in the graphics business who would love to do the Montana.

With proper maint and these guys are maintenance intensive these Montana's will give you good and long service. Did I mention they are maintenance intensive....

Since the DW will have it all spiffied up, hook on and take it to your local trader. I tried to trade with my local (New) Montana dealer for a new model 3100, but he wanted to much. I guess I will just keep my old one. It's a 2002 in good condition and not showing wear. Locally they were offering me 23,000 which wasn't bad for the year, but their starting price on the new one was way up there....JB

NADA average retail 31,360 and our friendly dealer says he could get nowhere near that out of it and to keep it. We had a sit down with our Insurance agent yesterday on all our insurance.. The list on our 3400 in 06 was 56k and we got it for 40K. That same 3400 in a 2011 is @72K and we might get it for 53K. We had to increase our Declared value up to 53K.
No we wil keep this one. Just keep upgrading.

We love our 2002 and have no intentions of buying new and makeing an investment in something that depreciates at this stage of our life.

Purchased a new home in Florida the same homes that are being built now are up $15,000.00 from last year.

Our 2002 GMC with 30,000 miles will be 9 years old next month pulls the Montana just fine.

I guess what I am saying with the price of fuel this will be out Last truck and Fiver

Same here. This truck and 5th wheel are it. We like new things but the prices are now out of sight. We will upgrade as we can afford it.Hope to have a electric awning installed at the rally this year as after 5 years the awning is showing signs of wear.

Wow! It sure is good to read that more and more folks are keeping the rolling stock longer - cost to upgrade is a killer - and taking care of the "owned property" has it's advantages.

We feel that our low mileage GMC and very fine Mountaineer will serve us well for years to come.

Oil changes and regular maintenance really pays dividends.

"Live long and Prosper"!!

This will be our last 5'er and truck too. After this, we'll probably be in the retirement home!! We did have the 2007 3400, and planned on keeping it. But, this year we were checking out the new Hickory Edition 3400. It had so many nice new features, mechanical upgrades, etc, that we decided to take the plunge, one more time. For DW, the lower and bigger microwave, the pendant counter lights in kitchen, the larger refrigerator, different carpeting, Hickory interior, and much more were a seller. For me, the mechancial upgrades, the Mor-Ryde pin box, wet bolts, and too many other things to list just made it worthwhile. Yes, we took a bit of a "hit" trading in the old Monty, but our salesman, whom we've worked with before, worked the numbers as hard as he could, and came up with an acceptable deal. When I factored in all the upgrades and changes I had planned to do, the cost difference wasn't all that bad. Plus, we got a much better interest rate on the new one than we had on the old one. So, we're happy!

That is all that is important, as long as you are happy and the salesman is happy. We couldn't even get close on my deal. I am still happy with what I have. Since they quite making the Model 2955 this year, I just thought I would test the water and see if we could get close enough to trade... No luck at all at my house....JB

We had the Mor Ryde IS system installed two years ago and and it is a completly different camper.Mor Ryde also made us a sturdy 2 inch receiver hitch at the same time. We had the Mor Ryde pin box on when we purchased the 3400 and purchased the new adjustable brakes from Dexter at the last rally. It is really not a 06 Montana 3400 any more. We looked at the new ones and even other brands but they are just out of sight for us.

We had another make 2007 5th wheel 28 ft. that was ok but not many up grades. When we decided to buy a new one we looked around for about 6 months at many dealers and shows. Montana was in the top 3 we were looking at. We both liked the Montana with all the packages including the "Big Sky" with the Lippet 6 point leveling system that was a must and on top of my list. The package also had the full body paint that really sets it off. The extra heavy tirs were also a good choice. We sold our other trailer to a private party and did a lot better than a trade in price. When we received the trailer it had the extra convection oven and all the slide toppers on it that we did not order.
