Rich, What's not to like about 22% pin weight?? I don't remember the service managers name at Keystone, but he said they like to see it below 25%, which mine was and they said it was good to go....Unless you need the lesser payload for your truck...

I ask my Allstate agent if I was involved in an accident that was my fault and my camper weigh was over my trucks rated capacity would the claim be denied? The answer was maybe and only maybe and only if being over weight was the sole cause of the accident. Whats the chance of being a few hundred pounds over weight being the cause of an accident? Can we say NONE.
I'm in the firearms industry I make equipment to reload ammo. In this industry you could be sued by anyone for anything. You learn to not worry about being sued, to go own with your life. That is exactly what I'm going to do with my camper. ENJOY

Phil.. It is just me.. our pin weight was 2915lbs. We are 875lbs under spec's for CC. I would like to see the pin weight at 20% and after a weight reduction program we may be there as well as lighter overall. We wqewre carrying around to much stuff and it can get out of hand. We are going to set goals for weight and weigh every year to see that we stay there.

Good luck Lynwood... The point is IF you are sued for a at fault accident your life will be over...

Snow plow package..It is not the snow plow but heavier suspension in the front, The snow plow package gives the front axle a 6K rating and the camper package gives the rear axle a 9K rating. That is why out F-350 has a 13K GVWR. I tend to go overboard.

Rich, peoples' lives aren't over when they are sued for an accident that's purportedly their fault. A lawsuit about it is generally good news because it means their insurance company thinks they weren't at fault, and denied the other side's claim, so the other side sues to recover their damages.

What almost always happens, when the accident is really your fault, is that your insurance company pays the claim and then raises your premiums a lot for a few years after the accident.

I agree with Tom Holsinger. We were sued several years ago over a son that was in an accident and on our insurance plan. Our Company paid out of court settlement and our rates went up until he went off to college and we dropped him from our coverage.

Sorry Rich, no life ruined here, just a pi__ed off dad......

Thanks for the explanation about your pin weight Rich....We downloaded some things this last year while in Phoenix, where our storage unit is. Made more room in basement, now I can put new stuff in there, YEAH!!! Only kidding of course. Haven't weighed since then, probably should some day..

I'm not concerned about my insurance co and a claim, my concern is getting sued by the other guy. My insurance co is not out to make a killing off me...the other party may try to do just that.

The 2011 Ford F-350 diesel DRW gross combined vehicle weight (possibly only with something called a "tow boss" package) seems to be 26,000 pounds, compared to the 23,500 tons of earlier F-350's and 24,000 for 2010 Dodge 3500 diesel DRW's. Dodge too lists a forthcoming tow package which will boost the latter's GCWR to 25,400. This means that the latest one-ton trucks of both Dodge and Ford will be (at least on paper) capable of towing the largest Montanas.

the tow boss package which added the 4:30 diff raised the GCWR to 26K in earlier years also.

I think we are making a mountain out of not a mole hill but nothing. Can anybody find one example of anybody being sued after had an accident because their camper was a few pounds over weight? Do you always wear a helmet when you go outside? A meteor might fall on your head.
