Adventureland campground- Altoona, Iowa

We are workkamping at Adventureland Amusement Park and see several Montanas and other Keystone products here- Are there any other Mocers here? Sure would like to visit with any and all- It is a nice campground (pricey) for overniters but has 24 hour security, clean comfort stations with laundry facilities, and adequate site size- Don

We are not in the park but I remember taking my kids to this park years ago. I was not aware that it was still open! We are in Illinois hosting at Illini State Park for the summer How do you like working at the park?

I am in my 5th summer working as a ride operator- It is a fun way to spend the season- It is a family owned and operated campground, motel and amusement park- It has been in operation for more than 25 years- All family members worked in the park as soon as they were old enough and assumed management positions when qualified- I hope to be able to spend several more summers working here- The pay scale is above the minimum wage plus there are other perks such as a welcome dinner, watermelon feed, ice cream party, movie outing , farewell dinner and more- If anyone who reads this joins the team, please mention my name as there is a recruitment bonus program also- So come join the fun!! Don

Don, sounds like some fun and great perks! Gives me ideas for next year when we are back in the area. Have a good summer and if we get a chance we might drive up with our granddaughter for the day.

We've been going to Adventureland since it first opened -- my oldest was 9 months old when it opened and he's 35 this year! DH and I camp there several times during the year (actually were there just last weekend, with the 3 cats). It's changed a lot since it first opened, when the campground was pretty much tent camping only. Fairly level sites, decent Internet (pay), nice comfort stations. Enough comfort stations that you don't have far to go to get to one.

DH would like to try workamping at least one summer, but since we're both still working, that won't happen for a while. He's more of a handyman and would prefer maintenance over ride or concession work, but, we'll see!

We drove past you guys a few days ago. We were eastbound from Glacier NP heading to Ohio. DW was just telling me she was looking to hook us up at Adventureland but we landed at a place called Glenwood RV resort, at least I think that is the name we were near Marsilles, Ill. Is this in your area?

Adventureland is in Altoona, IA, a suburb of Des Moines. Located on I-80 and Hwy 65 in central Iowa. The park is great for all ages, the campground has a pool, trolley to the amusement park, or a walking path, & a fishing pond. It is also adjacent to Prairie Meadows Race Track (horse racing) and Casino. Restaurants and motels close by. You can do the amusement park in one day if that's all the time you have.
