Splendide Winterize

We winterized the Splendide Ariston washer yesterday and I thought it was going to be a chore - NOT!

For the first time in my life I used the directions in the manual . It was way too easy, took only 1 additional gallon of antifreeze, and about 5 minutes. The bonus was I didn't have to get to the water supply valves, nor do I think I ever will.

The directions have you do a quick fill and drain, bypassing the automatic cycle controls so you can get it done in a few minutes. Because the 3400 drains directly into the waste pipe, I do have to be hooked up to sewer or catch it in a bucket and hand carry it to a waste dump. I used a bucket this time (discharged about 1-1/2 gallons to get the job done).

I was also suprised. After reading the directions, it went smoothly and quickly. What a concept - reading the directions.

Dang. I am a man and an engineer. This could be a major challenge to read directions.

Brad, did both the hot and cold lines going to the unit get filled?

I guess I am going to have to do the same daggone thing since it is the forum thing to do (story for DW anyway). I PM'd the INSTRUCTIONS to Timothy in Elkins to winterize his Splendide, now I am going to have to bite the bullet and READ the MANUAL myself!! Oh well, at least I don't have to do it for a couple more weeks anyway. For those who don;t have the manual, don't fret, it can be downloaded from Slendides web site. Myself, gotta go to Topsail first......C'mon Thanksgiving week.
