He'll never get it off the ground, the pointy end has to be into the wind (at least with an airplane).

Ah yes, a J-3 Piper. I took some flight instruction in one of them when I was 16.

Ozz, they still make Pipers, but not the Cubs. I think the ones now are mostly twins engine and are made around Miami, FL. There was a Piper plant in Lakeland, FL when I lived there in the 80's. On closer scrutiny, that could also be a Taylorcraft. They looked a lot alike.

If I can't get there driving, I don't need to go. Only time I ever flew was in one that looked like that, back around 1960.

Now if he put a pusher prop on and fired that sucker up, that old Chevy might get 6 or 7 mpg. My guess is that it is a Supercub. The cowl is wrong for both the J-3 and Taylor Craft. Note the oilcooler buldge on the bottom of the cowl (just barely visible) Bob

Actually, there are at least two companies making cubs (Knockoff designs) and are very much in production today. The cub in the picture is most probably the prized possesion of a collector who will restore it. A well restored cub is worth every bit as much as one of our prized Montanas.
