Reese 16K Hitch Question

Our Reese 16k dual pivot hitch was installed today and I have a simple question. Should the hitch be free to rock when it is not attached or is there a way to stabilize it so it doesn't move about during normal driving. Just curious.

I put a bungee on it just to stop it from making so much noise back there.

I stuff a short piece of a pipe insulation or foam swim noodle under one side to keep it from rocking.

At first I also used a bungee cord to tie it down towards one side; now it so high that my 'Fold-a-Cover' sits snug down on it. Hear a 'clunk' every once in a while but it doesn't lift the cover so I've left it alone.

We bungie it back so it does not clunk around and it fits under our fold-A-Cover better.Won't hurt anything to let it rock around.

I installed two small rubber bumpers on the back side of the hitch using bolts through existing holes. Seems to work OK, no noise.

We use a bungee cord to hold it down, our cover rolls right over the top of it.....Pete

I use a bungee on the handle so it will not rub on my Truxedo.

I use a bunggee also do you know you can reverse the handle by pulling the cotter pin and turning 180.

MOCers to the rescue again. Sometimes we can't see the forest for the trees. Something so simple, yet I never would have thought about it. Bungee cord now installed. Thanks gang.
