Super Glide Lubricant
Our 3400 should be in by the 15th and we've got our Super Glide hitch installed. What are you super glide owners using for lubrication? I tryed searching but got no matches. Thanks for the help.

You probably know that since the Superglide hitch slides and turns with the pinbox, you don't need a silicone ring between the hitch and pinbox. However, Pullrite wants you to lubricate the inside of the rails where the hitch itself slides back and forth. They (Pullrite) endorse a dry lubricant spray for this purpose.

Spray on Graphite Paint coating cures overnite to a hard, dry, long lasting protective barrier and eliminates the need for grease on SuperGlide hitch “way tubes”. Stays on longer than grease, and keeps things clean & dust free. You can call customer service at Pullrite (800) 443-2307.

I used Slip Spray last summer. Absolutely the way to go over messy grease. I am sold on the stuff. check prices at WWW.grainger.com and look for Grainger Item # 1WVK7 ($7.05/16oz spray can). I just called Pullrite, they want $12.50/16oz can + shipping.

You should have received an owner's instruction booklet with your SuperGlide hitch. I have in front of me the booklet I was given with purchase of my 3300 hitch with a revision date of 7/14/04. It states on page 2 "The 5th wheel plate and its moving parts should be lubricated with a light lubricant such as WD-40, 3-in-1 oil or Silicone Spray lubricant before each trip or as needed." And further "The Ways (or Glide Tubes) should be liberally lubricated each day of use. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU USE WHITE LITHIUM GREASE OR OTHER LIGHT WEIGT, MEDIUM DUTY GREASE ON TOP AND INWARD FACING SIDES OF WAY TUBES.....Failure to properly lubricate the Way Tubes WILL eventually cause galling between the metals of the Way Tubes and the Cam Assembly which WILL result in the failure of the hitch to work properly. DESTRUCTION of some of the hitch parts is also likely and will NOT be covered under the manufactures (sic) warranty." Finally "A light coating of WD-40 or other similar lubricant should be used on the King Pin." The "3/4 Pivot Bolt..lubricate with axle grease" monthly. Near as I can tell, from the above, the manufacturer is endorsing three different types of grease application at three different points in the apparatus to ensure proper function.
As with all products, there are always updates and changes of protocol. If there are any NEWER written directives from SuperGlide for the care and feeding of the SuperGlide 3300, I would really appreciate hearing about them. Thanks!!

My owner's manual says about the same thing and is dated Dec 6 (no year is specified). I'm going to order the slip spray from Grainger but have noticed they also have lithium grease in a spray can. Never have used any grease in a spray can, we always use tube grease on the farm. Has anybody used the can type and do you think it would work on the way tubes?

Have been using the spray grease for over 3 years without a problem BUT it can be a bit messy. I like the idea of this spray graphite paint and I will be getting a can.

You will be elated with the spray graphite. I would not use grease again unless emergency.

I feel like I'm preaching to the choir on this comment because I'm sure you know this already but remember to use some cutting solution to get the lithium grease off before applying the graphite paint.
