Gatekeeper

Does anyone know about where you can find info about Security positions in Texas. The position comprises tending a gate to drilling rigs. When traveling in Texas I've seen a number of rigs parked at the entrance to the drilling sites.

David,

What an interesting question, I always guessed that those rigs sitting out by the road were owned by the company or landowner and were staffed by their own employees. Maybe they are open for parttime employment by fulltimers. Neat idea! Let us know what ya find out.

Joe was offered one of these jobs while we were work camping at a RV park in Fort Worth - by one of the guests the day before we left. We were leaving Texas as Joe had bad allergies while there.

I would contact the companies or try the Work Camper magazine.

Laura, I belong to workamper and have not seen any information reguarding these positions.

Carol, The folks tending the gates are individual contractors who are hired by the drilling company. From what I know you are required to man the gate 24 hours, hence it's couple thing. Heard it pays 100.00 a day. They supply a generator, potable water and a outhouse.

A couple years ago we were on our way to McAllen,TX and stopped in an RV park that had a flyer looking for Guards. But we lost the flyer. I've done extensive research on the subject with on avail.
