Maxxair Vent Not Working
The Maxxair vent all of a sudden is not working. When we press the button to open, it just sits there and sort of clicks. The motor runs but it sounds like something is not driving the mechanism up to open. Any ideas what I could do?

They have been known to have lid stick to the seal. You might climb up on the roof and help it extend. If that is the case, put some lube (303, armorall, etc) on it.

Had the same thing happen on our last RV. Ended up being a busted gearbox housing. If that's the case the gearbox is available as a separate item at a fairly reasonable price.

I had to replace the lifting gear on one of ours. The gears are pretty flimsy and are known to break fairly easily according to their customer service folks. They wouldn't honor my warranty but a couple others had a new gear sent out at no charge. It was about a $20 part with shipping about 4 years ago IIRC and the repair took about 30 minutes. It was still working as of 10:00 this morning

Got a replacement operator mechanism from my dealer. Watched a utube video and replaced the part, works smoother than before. The OEM part came off in at least 3 broken pieces. The new operator seem a little more durable. Done/

You mean the fantastic fan vent. Maxair is just the cover over it on the roof.

Beeje, MaxxAir also make Vent fans similar to Fantastic Fan. But the MaxxAir Operating mechanism is made of cheap White Metal that explodes after continued use.
We have three MaxxAir fans with MaxxAir Covers and the operating mechanisms have been replaced on all three at least several times. They know those operators are junk, but it's cheaper for them to supply you with a replacement than fix the problem.
