Inverter Location

I'm working on step one of my Electrical upgrade.

I'm putting 4 Trojan T-125's in a single plastic battery box in the front compartment where the factory battery was. The box will be sealed, and vented to the outside.

My front compartment is one big space that runs across the unit. I know some are split up into two separate compartments, but not mine.

Anyway - what are the thoughts on mounting the inverter and eventual solar controller in that same forward compartment? I know that you are not supposed to but Keystone puts the battery in there along with the hydraulic pump motor and the motor for the landing gear so why not the inverter?

If the box is sealed and vented to the outside.....? I don't want to spend the $$'s on AGM so that's not an option. I can mount the inverter and controller on the front wall of the basement and that would be right next to the batteries (other side of the wall) but I'd like to keep the basement clear for other stuff if possible.

Thoughts?? Anybody co locate inverter and sealed battery boxes?

I think that's a judgement call... keeping in mind that battery gasses are capable of igniting. A well vented, sealed battery compartment would certainly reduce the risk of ignition. I wonder if there is a code that requires a certain configuration/ separation? I'm thinking safety and insurance here...

My inverter and solar controller are in the basement on the wall dividing the basement from the front compartment. That is where most people put them.

Mine is like PapaBeav. Even though my battery box is sealed and vented I feel more comfortable having the inverter away from the batteries

I had 4 batteries in a vented sealed box in my old rig along with the inverter and solar charger on the wall. I opted for AGM's in this Montana. I mounted the inverter on the wall next to the remote electronics. My solar controller I mounted on the wall in the head next to the converter/breaker box. This allowed for a quick connection to the battery terminals on the converter and easy access from the roof behind the converter.
