Can anyone recommend a campground near Andersonville, GA? We have Passport America but will look at whatever is a good site. Thanks

Joanie and Dave, Best bet to fit your desire is Brickyard CG and Golf Club in Americus, GA. It is PA. Just about 15 miles to Andersonville, Carter homestead, Habitat for Humanity Hdqts. To get PA you must make reservations. You must make reservations to get PA discount. You only have to call before you get there. We called the day before our arrival. I don't know your religious leanings, but if you are lucky Jimmy Carter will be in Plains and in that case he teaches the Bible study before the service in Plains. We are not Baptist, but this is a not to be missed opportunity. We loved it and hope to have the same opportunity again. If you golf the cost will blow your mind. Web site is at www.brickyardgolfclub.com.

we stayed several days here:

Nice Passport America park and only a short drive to Andersonville, Plains, etc.

We stayed at the Brickyard out first year on the road and can recommend it highly. Easy drive from CG to Andersonville and Plains. They are in opposite directions from Americus but easily found. We were there about 2 months after the tornado had passed through and the hospital looked like a building in Baghdad after a good shelling. Be sure to eat lunch in the little cafe in Plains, you might just catch Jimmy having a snack.

This is our last night at Brickyard Plantation RV park and we have to give it 2 thumbs up. We had 2 awesome days at Andersonville and this weekend the RV park is hosting a Bluegrass Festival. Great music and new friends. Thanks again for the great recommendation. (we could have had a few less gnats though). I guess that is a problem at this time of year in this area. It won't keep us from coming back.
