Eliptical dish question

Last week we upgraded to HD with Direct TV. I asked the installer how difficult it would be to use that type dish on a portable basis. He stated that it would be very difficult, as they need to hit 5 satallites.

We currently use the small round dual LNB without any problems.

Do any of you use the HD dish and if so how easy is it to get the signal?

I do have a signal meter and a decent compass.

Today I did the third set up on the Directv HD dish in as many days, as long as you get the tripod level everything else should fall into place. Just make sure you have the elevation and skew set and you can sweep the azimuth in pretty easily. I used my screamer meter on any of the leads and go for the highest signal. Once you have it peaked then go in and check meter strength on all the birds, if 9a and 9b don't read real good that's ok, just do a reset on the receiver and it should all fall into place.. I went with DishNet after 2 visits by DirecTV techs. Dish has a 3 LNB and while not as many HD channels as DTV, they have tons - more than we can watch. And the elliptical dish is very small and manageable.

As Dave said the important thing is getting the tri-pod level, I have only set mine up once but it was as easy as the 3 lnb and I did it in less time.

Thanks for the replies. It sounds as if I could manage this. I think an upgrade is in the near future!
