Ok Ok ok I'll be the Champion guy here lol lol.. Yep my 3500 Champion stays in the truck and has been there for the past 4 years. Got it chained to the hitch and found an old cover for a roof top AC unit fits perfect. We never use it much just when we stop at rest stops or truck stops or in case of emergency. We have been in a campground in Texas that lost power. You do not want to lose power in Texas when it's 105. I think it gets it's most use when my mobile dog groomer comes, she pulls in beside my truck and plugs in. It has always started on the 2nd pull. When we need it traveling I still have a 30 amp cord so between the 50 amp and the 30 amp it reaches the truck fine and it has a 30 amp plug on it. Not to start a Honda vs the world war but I don't really notice a whole lot of difference between it and 2 Hondas running under a load. To me a generator running is still a generator running and you will hear it regardless of the type. Would I use it around a bunch of tent campers in the middle of the wilderness?? heck no, but for races and parking lots or emergency it is fine.

I have a Honda 3000 that I used for a couple of years, but because it is heavy (150lbs) I never found a good way to get it in and out of the basement to use. It is a little too tall to leave in the bed when hooked up to the trailer. So, I bought a pair of Honda 2000s and put the 3000 away in storage! I keep the two Honda 2000s in the passenger side front generator compartment. I got to use them at Quartzite and the pair worked fine. I also bought a 6gal extended run fuel tank that hooks up to both and greatly reduces the frequency of fill ups.

ExNavydiver has a pair of 2K Yammies he might sell ya

Hello guys!
Good info on the generator options. We are getting geared up to take a 4,000 mile trip with our trailer and I would like to carry a generator in the back of my truck to use during overnight stops along the way. I'm wondering how difficult it is to wire in a power service plug in the front of the trailer. We have the 50 amp service plug at the back of the trailer, but it would be handy if I could plug in at the front. Not sure if our trailer has a generator prep or not. I'm hoping there is a panel I could pull off or something and be able to access an easy way to wire in a front plug. Thanks in advance for any advice or ideas...

I have done it. You will need a transfer switch. To transfer power to the back plug in to one you have put on the front. They come in automatic and manual. You would need the automatic one. It's simple straight forward work. But you need to know a little about electric work. You need to wire the transfer switch in the main line and wire the transfer switch to the line you install. It takes no. 6 wire. It is a great addition to your camper.

We have the Honda 3000si and it fills the bill for us. It is bolted to the deck behind the toolbox and we almost can not hear it when running.

Thanks Lynwood for the suggestion. Not going to be able to get that set up before this trip, but I think I'll work on that for the next one!

X2 on champions, have three. Two 2000 inverters to parallel and a 3500 purchased several years ago. I am very satisfied thus far.
