Diagrams

Our lives would be so much less complicated with a set of diagrams for electrical (12v and 120vAC), all water/plumbing, propane, hydraulic, etc lines. Surely they are available, just put them in the owner's manual. I don't know if other RV manuafactures do this, but my boat has all these diagrams, and since it is a sailboat, many more showing where each line goes as well as it's diameter and length.

I agree that it would be nice, but I don't think it will happen. Even dealers say that they don't have them. I guess we have to make our own. If I ever get an electrical drawn up on my 2955, I'll post it. It probably wouldn't be much good for anything else....JB

Other manufacturers don't supply them either.

You have to take a tour of the plants and you'll better understand why there are no plans.
Montana makes running changes constantly and what may be a diagram of my 3485 built in the 1st week of December may be totally different than the 3485s built in the 4th week.

A tour of the plant is "educational" a tour of the sprinter plan, right around the corner and in full operation during the tour is a " throat clutcher" It is very possible that no 20 Montana's are exactly alike.

Even though they would not be the same, a to/from chart would do the job with just the wire and gage number. It would also have to list the accesories such as what electrical panels were installed !- A/C, 2 - A/C, ect. A general overview would be fine. I hate to admit it, but I wrote the quality manual for the Featherlite trailer company in Cresco, IA in the early 90's. There are a lot of things to cover and you make it as generic as possible so that you are not making revisions to the manual all of the time. I have read a lot of different companies manuals also. As far as manuals, Fleetwood does a pretty good job most things. Keystone does a lousy job and on schematics, they all do a terrible job... Just my opinion though. "OPINIONS" everyone has one.... There has to be some kind of plan, check list, diagram, schedule or something to go by...or half these thing would be missing a great deal of what should be there.

Most of them use a wiring harness which is made on a large board with what looks like finishing nails in it. The nails are placed so that the different wires can be woven around them and extended to the proper length. Those boards with the wires on them are how the original plastic ty-wrap came about. We used to ty the cables with a real tough string and the knot had to be tied a certain way to keep from coming untied. Technology has taken over and they now use what is called a ty-wrap gun putting a regulated amount of tention on each wrap. The person building the harnesses works off of a work order that tells what you ordered when you ordered from your dealer. When he is all caught up with orders that people have submited, he builds the best sellers that a dealer may want to leave on his lot for you to look at. Or he may build a trailer that is easy for a dealer to add something to.... This concludes the lession for today on trailer building... Have a great day...JB

There is no doubt in my mind that they could give us 'something', a rough idea of the wiring.
For reasons that I am not aware of they avoid doing this.
