Bratwurst, bratwurst, bratwurst
Well we left home on Monday and headed for what is billed as the largest German festival in the U.S.. It is the bratwurst festival and is held in Bucyrus Ohio this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. We are staying at the Shelby/Mansfield KOA. This is a really nice campground almost resort like. Every site seems to be a pull through 90-100 feet long with full hook ups and easy to manuver. Its Wednesday and the camp ground is empty!!! There is about 45 sites and only 4 spaces are taken and according to the owner as of today not going to be full for this festival week but this can change. So if you are free this weekend and are in the area this may be something for you to do. The camp ground is about 225 miles from my home and enroute I saw very little RV traffic and not one Mountaineer, Montana or Big Sky maybe because it was Monday. The big Dodge pulled the Montana with ease as usual and averaged 9.5 mpg. Fuel prices at home was 3.72 for regular and 4.58 for diesel. Around the camp ground I saw 3.45 for regular and 4.23 for diesel. Tuesday we went to Sauder Village which is in Archbold Ohio. It is a recreated Mennonite village at the turn of the 20th century also the Sauder furniture outlet. Today we are off to see the Mansfield reformatory which is supposed to be haunted and is the site were the movie Shaw Shank Redemption was filmed, also today a side trip to a carousel museum and restoration facility. Thursday and/or Friday its off to the Bratwurst festival and maybe Thursday or Friday a trip to Port Clinton and Put-in Bay or Cedar Point amusement park. We will keep you all posted of or adventure.
