King Dome satellite
We have recently signed up with DirecTV at home and brought a receiver from home to our Monty. Our recently purchased pre-owned 3400RL has King Dome satellite (already installed). My question: What is the correct hookup process to get the receiver to communicate with the television? So far, I do not see the menu displayed on the television that tells me it is communicating with the receiver or searching for the satellite. The wall satellite/cable outlet has and IN and OUT and the television is already hooked to a DVD player system with a splitter. I just can't seem to figure this out. I assume the cable should be connected to the IN?? but I've tried both. I can't get to the back of the ViewSonic television to try to hook it directly to the receiver.
Also on that note, how will we be able to replace the television in the future? There seems to be no way to access the back or base to remove it. I'm sure there must be a way without tearing the cabinet apart. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

From the ones I have seen around here the receiver has to be hooked directly to the dish system for it to hunt for the birds... Dave

Dennis, I don't know which model King Dome you have but if it is the one that is automatic it will find the birds without a receiver hooked to it. However it must be programmed for Dish or Direct for it to work. The in should go to the receiver and the out from the receiver. Look and see if they used the Sat/Cable input for the hookup in the basement area. If so you will have to turn off the TV amplifier located in the front closet when you want to use the satellite. I installed the King Dome on my unit and have learned a lot about it. It works great.

Will the King Dome pick up HDTV, We were told in a seminar at our Rally last week that the King Dome wouldn't do HDTV. So we order the Traveler roof mount by Winegard. See the demo and one button does the trick. Good Luck with your hook up. GBY....

Don't know about the dome but the tv is usally screwed in from the top and the bottom. Check the cabinets above and below or beside. They should be there. Usally 4 total.

The Kind Dome that I have does HD. When you stop just push one button and it does the rest.
