Fort Davis Texas, Which route out?

We landed in Fort Davis Texas for a few nights, now, we need to get outta here and head towards Arizona, seems there are two routes, with only about 25 miles difference in distance.

1.) southwest outta Fort Davis via 166/505 to 90 then northwest.

2.) northeast outta Fort Davis via 17 to I 10.

What say you???

I have been on both routes and IMO, the less time spent on I-10, the better.

We try to take "the road less traveled" whenever possible- We see much more of our beautiful country that way- It is not always less stressful, but usually is- We traveled that area when we went to Big Bend NP- JMHO- Don

Well, we took 118 out of Fort Davis all the way to Kent.

Al was in Dodge deisel heaven.

You need to go SLOW, and don't be low on fuel, and don't expect to travel that route in just an hour or so.

BUT, IT WAS great!

Then, we jumped on I-10, cause we needed to get to Las Cruces by evening, which we did.

So, we did a mix of slow and go!

Worked out quite nicely!
