A heat strip is a simple electric heating element, which when combined with ac air flow, provides a source of modest heat. Heat pumps use an absorption process to create heat, provide greater capacity, and are common in HVAC applications. I will let somebody smarter than me explain how that process works. Bottom line, heat pumps are a lot better.
