We copied that number off the unit we looked at Tiara RV. 16,820lbs.I believe it is also on the Montana web page.
Your 06 Chevy may be challenged by the New Big Sky although the Chevy is considerably lighter than the Ford.

Hook - We are trading for a 2014 Big Sky 382RL. We felt like the deal we got was too good to pass up. We looked at a 2015 382RL, but the deal offered in Shreveport was really easy to say "no" to. The pictures of the 2014 look exactly like the 2015, so I hope we aren't disappointed. We located it online and just talked on the phone. Do you know what changes were made between the 2014 and 2015?

I might be confused, and that is easy to do, but I thought the 14s were Montanas with Big Sky package, like ours. Then the new line 100 inch wide 300 numbers were 15s. Yet, I haven't seen a 100 inch model yet. Also the new ones have a portion of red paint in their colors. It's real easy to get confused during this changing time.

There have been a bunch of 2014 Big Sky RVs (with the red paint and 100" wide frame) produced. My dealer has one on his lot and there was two at Tacoma RV for a short period. The 2015s started shipping somewhere in late May or early April.
Rich had mentioned the GVWR of the new Big Skys. The 378 is 16,820 and the 382 is 16,700 according to the stickers on the side. They all have disc brakes (yea!!!) but 7K axles (boo!!!). Taking away the pin weight leaves you very close to the maximum weight of 14K on the axles. The G614s will carry it, but I would worry about bent axles.
I know the weights exceed what my truck is rated for.

Oh, happy, happy, joy, joy! (Being facetious, here) The 2014 we are getting has the red paint and the wide body, but I had no idea the axles were under rated! I guess, if the axels bend, we will have to replace them with heavier ones. Will cross that bridge when we come to it . . .

To be clear, the 7K axles are not under rated. But at 14K, they are very close to the weight being carried and don't have much in the way of reserve capacity.

I guess, the only thing going for us is that we won't need to carry the tanks full. We won't be boon docking, so only need a little water for the occasional bathroom stop and can dump sewer tanks before heading to next detonation. That will help keep the weight down.

We just had the MOR RYDE IS system installed on our 13 Big Sky and that would be a good investment on the new ones. They were to heavy for our 08 F-350 dually.

Pulling is not the problem. My 2500 Duramax is pulling ~13K and could pull another 2K. Now pin weight is another thing. The only time I feel I need more truck is on a two lane highway with a very steep down grade and a sharp turn near bottom. These trailers want to continue going straight. We have one route we go often that has exactly what I'm talking about and I can tell you I'm slowing to

3/4 ton 1 ton have the same motor so pulling is not the issue. We would be over GCVW with the 16,820 lbs New Big Sky, It fact we are over the GCVW with the 2013 3402 Big Sky and our 08 F-350 Dually. We are well within the pin weight because of the dually. We did the Mor Ryde IS this year and will do the Kodiak brakes next year. We ran out of Money. The 13 Big sky has a GVWR of 15,805 and a dry weight 12,901. They keep making these things heavier and heavier.

Yep I am out for the new Big Sky TOOO Heavy for me and I am not gonna buy another truck just to Haul one, will have to buy another 96in "regular Montana" OR there are 3-4 other SOB's that make a 39-40ft 100in frame 5th's that the "old" Chevy can haul, it does not make sense to me to spend 20K more just to get a 100in frame Big Sky when the other 100+in frame SOB's will cost just a few thousand more than a regular 96in Montana to get what the Big Sky offers with less weight
