Compressed Air Method Question

I know it's not the time of year to think about winterizing an RV but I want to throw out a question. I would like to clear the water system with a 12V air compressor using the Compressed Air method. I've read some articles and watch a few YouTube videos of how this can be done. One of the recommend 12V air compressors is the Viair 400P-RVS coupled with the Viair Winterization kit.

I know there are two (2) factors in using the Compressed Air method, air pressure and air volume. Does anyone have any insight on using a 12V air compressor to clear the water system? You can regulate the pressure but would a 12V air compressor push enough volume to clean the water system?

Yes it will clear the system of water. I set mine to about 40 pounds including the hot water tank. I let the compressor fill the system leave it hooked to the water inlet and then open one faucet at a time, blow all the water out and go to the next one until they are all done. Then I let it set until the next day and repeat for several days until I feel all the water is out.

I can't see how that would push near enough volume, but then again, I've only blown ours out with a "fixed" air compressor. I have a HUGE air compressor, 80 gallon 175PSI model, and it will cycle several times during the glow out process. I don't know the specs, but I'm guessing that it's somewhere in the 15CFM at 30PSI, so it's pushing a LOT of air, and it's a BIG tank.

I'd be skeptical, but don't have any first hand experience, so take that with a block of salt...

He will be using his hot water tank for volume. I have a big compressor for the shop but I use a 2 gallon 1/4 horsepower to blow out my camper and I works fine If you don’t get in a hurry.

LOL, "if you don't get in a hurry", is the key.

If it takes me longer than 5 minutes to blow mine out with my monster compressor, something is wrong. I just can't imagine that there's anything quick about a compressor like the one the OP linked. With that being said, that compressor, for a 12V compressor, is a HUGE compressor, and for 12V "jobs", I'm sure that it does great!
