Don't know about Montana's , but our SOB has a 90 Amp Converter, now granted even with that output it won't run the slides by it's self, but with batteries with still some charge left, should be enough to run the hydraulics for a short period.

I've jumped almost dead batteries using my truck, and after five or so minutes used auto level and put out all six slides.

I have left fully charged quality Group 27 battery over the winter WITH THE NEGATIVE DISCONNECTED
Connected in the spring use Jack's and open slides no problem
A quality Group 27 or 31RV Deep Cycle battery will work great no need for multi batteries unless you are boondocking

My unit has small, almost "toy" like solar panel connected to the fridge cover. It is just glued. It kept the battery full for a year.

Not to get off track but in my case it's not fleetwood not sending parts its cause cw didn't even order them but they tell me its Fleetwood fault and I got fleetwood on the other line and they haven't got the order

I've operated the jacks when the battery was too low to power them (also when picking up from the dealer) simply by plugging the trailer into the truck. I've operated jacks and slides with the battery removed using heavy duty jumper cables hooked to the RV battery terminals on one end and a fully charged battery on the other. I did that instead of installeing the battery to open the rig up before I installed a disconnect on the negative terminal. I have not hooked cables to the truck battery, but am sure it would work as I have the heavy duty alternator.
RV dealers routinely use charge packs to power rigs with no batteries to display them.

I used a NOCO 4K amp jump pack on it’s own to raise the jacks and operate the slides. I have also used a set of jumper cables from my truck to the power the slide. Make sure to have the vehicle running

Why not put one solar panel as your backup this way your batteries will always be charged while stored. The solar charge controller will also condition the batteries. Solar was the best thing I put on my rig. I don’t worry about dead batteries anymore.

You can plug into your tv to get power to operate the slides and jacks, but if your battery(s) are completely dead then you are in the market for a new one(s).

I store our rig in a lot without power available. Installed solar panel and charge controller. Batteries are always fully charged, just need to check water once a month or so.

I always disconnect the plus side of battery when leaving batteries in for more than a couple of weeks. For the winter since we are not going south I take batteries out and put in garage on a battery charger every couple of weeks. Most of you disconnect the negative terminal instead. Am I doing it wrong?

I remove my battery and put it on the charger too when the rig will sit for more than a couple of weeks the middle of winter. I followed the advice found on another thread on this forum when installing the disconnect on the negative side.

battery issue
Last time my converter died, the batteries went dead also. While sitting in a Walmart parking lot how do I charge my battery? No generator. I wound up taking a battery out of my F350 to get the slides in. Then return it to the truck. I did that swapping for almost 2 weeks til I got home and ordered a new converter.

Without researching it, my recollection is to remove the negative cable, but I don't know if it really makes a difference.

I never take our unit to the dealer anyways but if you do. Just turning off the battier switch will not disconnect your battier's all the way like DQDICK said at the begging of this post. You need to discount the NEG side of the battier's. Install a blade switch makes it fast.

Switching the negative terminal is more of a safety thing as removing either battery terminal will isolate it from parasitic drain. If you remove the negative cable and something falls onto the positive terminal ... nothing will happen. If you remove the positive cable and something falls onto that terminal ... it will either power up that circuit or create a direct short as in a wrench between terminal and frame.
