This diet is KILLING me! How do you do it?

It is a bit cornfusing to me, I will admit.

Oz, you will lose weight if that is all you eat. Maybe you should drink more beer to keep your protein levels up

Those little tomatoes and eggs look good. I'm always on alert to find a better way and was reading here a post by Dick Montgomery that he uses MyFitnessPal. So, I tried it and its seems to be better than a diet. I just log in my little tomatoes and eggs and the computer figures out what a gram is

That is what Sue and I started to use 3 weeks ago, it is a really good tool for monitoring your food intake. I have a thread about it somewhere...

My gram measurement is 1 slice of peach pie and 1 1/2 scoops of ice cream instead of 2 scoops. Heat the pie to reduce weight and it also helps turn some of the ice cream to liquid.

Oh my, remembered Dick's post but forgot you as the OP. Having also acquired a "smarty phone" I down loaded the free app after reading your thread and started using it. Agree its good for monitoring intake and for me it helps with portion size. I have friends that were "born to be wild", but I seem to have been born to be wide.

My "Gram" always told me there wasn't anything better for you than biscuits and sausage gravy

I "do" like the way you think, Mike. I gave up on diets a few years ago and just decided, I'm going to be fat. I'm too old to try and impress the girls anyway anymore. My wife of 30 yrs. says she ain't going anywhere so I'm good to go. My buddy asked me what I was going to do when I got to be 80 and I just told him, with the shape and pain I'm in now, If I live to be 80, it's going to be because God is punishing me. Bring me another slice of Peach Pie. ummmm

That is funny and we all joke around, I don't but many do .... I know... Maybe I joke a little
Like my wife's friend says; "It's all fun and we have a great time until someone breaks a nail"
A guy can be sailing along, livin' the good life then 'Up jumps the devil"
There is no free lunch in life, we eat good, get fat and sassy and pay the price. You can even be thin and sassy.
Alwims, you should know this about heart disease and the dangers of added weight, your wife is a nurse.
Here is why I got the heart scans, no one told me to, I just do it every few years, pay for it myself.
Check this out:
Sorry for the blurred first picture, the Dr. was pumping up the blood pressure cuff..

I wish I didn't know as much as I do. I had a double bypass in 2001. I have a stress test every year and it comes up good every time. I had an exploratory angiogram done 3 years ago and the Dr. said my cabg looked as good as the day it was done. I need to loose some weight, but I'm so sick of dieting it's pathetic. Last time I had blood work done, it all looked real good and nothing has changed in the last 3 years. A1C was a little high, but that's from all that peach pie.

Super! You are proactive I'm glad you are, speaking of Peach pie, I made a killer Peach tart last night, didn't know much about the recipe, just sounded like fun
It was so good.
Cut fresh peaches and layer the bottom of a glass pie plate, squeeze Lemon juice on them, then prepare 1 cup sugar.. I used 1/2 cup, 1 cup flour and mash it all around with a fork after adding an egg, it balls up. Spread that all over the peaches, they say to melt 6 tablespoons butter and pour it over the top, I just used 3. I added some Vanilla we got in Mexico to it.
cook in oven for 45 minutes..... shazam!
I had one small pc for desert, Sue loved it. about 220 calories I think.

I'll have to try that. Ain't that Mexican Vanilla good? We buy several whenever we are close to the border.

I was on a diet once. I'm 6'+ or so, went to the Dr and she said my weight had been climbing the last few years. I had gotten it up to around 250lbs. OK, I'll start dieting. Wife only cooked diet stuff for 6 months. I lost down to 195lbs in 6 months. Go back to Dr. and she is so proud of the success I had made.

Now it is time for the annual check. Whoops, look you need to go to the hospital for some tests...Yes, prostate cancer. OK we got to do surgery.

Now after 3 years of being cancer free, I am back up to 242lbs.

My take on this is that diets give you cancer. I am back on my biscuits/gravy, chicken fried steaks and feel just fine.

Blood pressure, cholesterol, I got pills for that.....

Jim
