Closed off Front window

Closed off the front (windshield) window on our HC381TH today. It is a MAJOR heat magnet and since it is directly behind the TV we never really use it anyway.

I understand the heat reflection idea, but isn't there a shade that pulls down too? Would think that shade and your shield would add some insulation too

There was a shade. It was all but useless as insulation as it is paper thin. That window faces directly into the sun and the temps are in the triple digits here with ZERO shade (and no we can't move the rig (long term lease at job site). It was so hot back there it melted the glue that held the shade onto the roller!!!

The board I installed is backed by 1" thick Styrofoam. Today is test day and it has made a significant difference.

If you have the front windshield and are stuck in the desert, I highly recommend this mod.
