Thank you, Ron and Thelma. I guess being '39' again is better than the alternative, huh?
Note, today is also the birthday of --
Mike and Wendy,
Rick,
Chuck Pelley,
and dale.
Happy Birthday to all you folks, too!

Thanks to all of you. I do the same thing, Glenn. First thing I do is hit active topics, so I don't see the birthdays unless I go back to All Forums. I know I'm probably missing some birthdays.

Steve,
I hate to rain on your parade, but you said "39". Are you sure? I think you need to check you driver's license. Or better yet, check with Vickie, she will probably be a bit more accurate. Just don't want you to come across a delusional. You must continue to set a good example.
I thought you were 49.

I might even take 49, Fla Native! Awhile back we had a similar thread about ages and got off into hexadecimal notation. In hex I, at that time was 39. But with birthday I'm 3A in hex! Yep, 3A.

Steve,
You never did give us that refresher course in hex.

Steve,
I am going to do the same thing with your birthday as I do with mine. Ignore it!! Got my first Social Security check in February. Won't ignore that.
Well, ok, happy birthday anyway.

It is a special feeling to get the first HUGE check from the Govt - up here we get 2 cheques but I cheat -having dual citizenship I get Social Security cheques from Canada AND England - total THREE! I'm not proud - I'll take handouts from any Govt agency willing to cough up a few $$$$! I do appreciate the age problem - I justify by saying that as I was born in '39 I will stay 39 for ever! (So my daughter is 40 - that's her problem not mine)
Happy belated birthday Steve - you still have a few years to catch up!

This Monday, the 14th, I will officially be retired and officially collecting social security but I gotta wait until May 18th to get that first official check.
After this B-day there will be no need for any further B-days.

Congrats on the retirement. You will find this is the best job you ever had. Know what you mean about the two month delay on the SS check. I told my wife when I pass into the great campground in the sky not to notify SSA for two months....oh shucks, they will probably know before it happens.

Steve, I didn't manage to get back here for a couple of weeks and missed this topic.
A belated happy birthday from Bill and Jeanne.

Thank you all. Vickster, we went out to dinner. No dishes for me to do that way!
Parrothead, decimal has 10 possible numbers in each position, 0 thru 9 (0123456789). Hexidecimal has 16 possible in each position, 0 thru F (0123456789ABCDEF). In decimal, each position's value is 10 times the prior positions value. In the number 625, the 5 is 5x1=5. The 2 is 2x10=20. the 6 is 6x100=600. Total is 625 decimal. In hex, each position is 16 times the prior position. In 625, the 5 is 5x1=5. The 2 is 2x16=32, the 6 is 6x256=1536. Total 1573 decimal. So 625 hex is the equivalent of 1573 in decimal. For computers, a number can be stored in hexidecimal in fewer positions. That means lower hardware cost for the computer. Clear as mud, huh?

Yes, but now some of it is coming back. By the way did you know that the calculator on WindowsXP has a option for looking up any number in hex, binary or octal. I just found this out. I don't normally use the calculator since I'm an Excel guru I use it for any math calculations. I also several months ago found that Word has a translator. It really surprised me as I've used both of these programs for several years without knowing about these enhancements.
