Shore power when storing

What are the pros and cons regarding leaving my shore power connected while I have my 5th wheel closed up at a resort for 6 months?? Or should I simply disconnect?
Thx

Unattended for 6 months? Anything can happen during that time period: electric shorts, lightening strikes, low voltage, high voltage, even a fire. Disconnect everything, take batteries out, winterize, and lock it up. Slides in, windows shut, vents closed, remove ALL food and everything with liquid in it.. Leave no room for anything to happen while you are gone. You are not there to monitor it. Shut it down 100%.

And one other consideration.... what happens if YOU are not able to return to it .... say ... ever? A lot of things can (and do) happen in 6 months, and there's a lot of things that can happen to you too.

I'm with DutchmenSport .... unless you have something that absolutely needs powered up and you have someone that can check on things promptly and often. Air the tires up ... disconnect the negative battery cable(s) ... store your power cord (theft item) ... prop open the fridge or put newspaper inside ... drive away.

Mine always stayed plugged in in local storage. But unattended 6 months? I would not do it. Fully charge the batteries and disconnect the battery cables. Or pull the battery(s) and take them home and put a trickle charger on it (them).

I always leave mine plugged in. No reason except I like to watch a little TV in it and have the lights work. Either way is fine. Which way do you prefer?

At home ours stays plugged in 24/7.
Great man cave or she shed.
If was at a storage location I would follow Dutchmen advise.

I agree with everyone else. If you’re going to walk away and not return at all for 6 months then empty it out like you’re going to sell it. Then shut it down completely. It would be a good idea if someone could/ would check on it inside and out for you every once in a while.

Just purchased ours in early February. It is parked under a lean to at a barn on our property. One of us is in it regularly, so it is plugged into a 50amp power I had provided. I would definitely not leave it plugged in for extended/unattended time.

We leave our plugged in 24/7 at our home. Never had a problem.

Leave mine plugged in 24/7 with everything in it and all closet and cabinet doors slightly open. Never had a problem.

Mine is plugged in all winter (storage) right next to my shop, but I have all the breakers shut off except for the one feeding the converter charger... which is supposed to be a smart charger.

I have access to where that charger is plugged in and I have a timer in line that powers the charger for 3 hours at a time, twice a week. I guess I just want to keep the battery topped off and not risk over charging it.

I used to pull the battery and put it in a warmer environment, then started putting a Battery Minder on it in the camper, and after I did the smart charger upgrade I am using the above method.
