Thanks again, I will try and find the built in one then make a decision. I hear horror stories about the plastic one that came with the 5ver

Will this valve failing cause an unpleasant smell under the sink? I know mine leaks and we have put a towel under the water lines each time we use the blank tank flush. However, it smells like the tube and valve may have become a vent for the black tank

That’s what I use as well. Throw away that plastic piece of crap under the bathroom sink.

The valve under the sink is designed so that if your tank filled up and there was a back flo into the backflush hose, the valve would close and allow the back pressure to drain into the cavity where the valve is located. And if it is in your bathroom, above the garage, it will probably follow the outside of the hose down into the garage. Under normal circumstances, your tank has a pipe venting out the roof which is where most venting should occur. That pipe has a plastic cover over the top. Make sure it is not crushed and that the pipe is not plugged.

When your black tank is full, make sure you pull the exterrior valve for it to start to drain before turning on the backflush water.

Like many - our anti siphon valve started to leak last summer when flushing the black tank. I removed the valve under the bathroom sink ( don’t need another flood) and installed a straight thru line. I have a check valve in the convenience center to protect from siphoning.

So far - so good!

P.s. - When I opened the black plastic valve - it had a “stink bug” in it. Dang things!
