Snowbirding in New Orleans?
Just returning from our favorite city, New Orleans. We had this thought and would like your comments and input. Briefly, the City will have land than will be unuseable for building because of elevation/location. We think that the best use of the land would be to develop destination RV parks for snowbirders like in AZ, TX, AL and FL. Winter is a slow time in NOLA except for Mardi Gras and 10-20,000 RVers would sure help their economy.
So far I haven't been able to get a direct contact either with NOLA or the State. Would be nice to see a variety of secure parks in the City. If a hurricane comes, we can just hitch up and leave in plenty of time.

I don't think the Montana's frame would be heavy duty enough for the 50 Cal. machine gun mount needed there.
Just kidding, I think you have a good idea, we had fun there, and I understand it is a problem finding an RV park. (Possibly outdated information now.)

I see 8 RV Parks in or around New Orleans, and two within 20 miles. Don't know if they are active, but the possibilities are there.

I think Voyager or Beaudry's in AZ should be convinced to expand to LA. (400 - 600 spaces with fabulous amenities). You know they could fill up at Mardi Gras.

We stayed at New Orleans RV Park just a few miles from the 9th ward. Not many amenities at $50 per night, but we have Passport America and stayed for just $25 per night. Backed up to the intercoastal waterway.

OZZ, It's not the 50 cal. mount that's so heavy. It's the numberous belts of 50 cal that you would have to put on the roof of the Monty. It's just the weight factor. Just kidding.
Has anybody been to the WWII museum in NO. Its on my list to vist enroute to Brandson 08.

Don't like those vacations where need be constantly armed. Been some where done that!
We want to relax.
This might work if they ever get N Orleans straightened out. Need some serious law and order first.

To follow up, we didn't have a feeling of concern after the first few days there. I carried for the first couple of days and by then I could see, literally, the huge number of cops EVERYWHERE in the French Quarter and downtown by the Casinos.
There was even a heavy police presence in the outlying areas of the city. We felt safe where we were staying - they have a locked entry gate and surrounded by huge fence and water.
