Ebike transportation

We have a couple of fold up ebikes and we put them in the back seat of the truck when we’re towing. DH just bought a larger, non-folding bike (Rad Power bike). We have one of those metal racks that came on the back of our trailer. This bike will not fit into the back seat of the truck. The bike fat tires (4” wide).

Does anyone have any ideas as to how to fasten a large ebike to this rack? We are willing to go to a metal workshop and have something made.

Any other transportation ideas are also welcome. Our truck is a 2015 Ford with an 8’ box.

I can't answer your question, but since this subject of E-bikes is on the plate...

The Indiana DNR has banned any battery operated transportation device from all DNR properties. That includes State Parks and State Recitational Areas.

That includes those battery operated cars for small children with those annoying hard plastic wheels, hover boards, hover boards with the scooter that can be sat on, E-bikes, and all golf carts. The only exception to golf carts is, you must be over 65 years old AND you must be disabled AND they must be properly licensed AND they can ONLY be used inside the campground.

BUT, at this point, not all Indiana properties are enforcing this yet. Some properties are on it like a heart beat, others are blind to it. It's not consistent yet.

When asked why, evidently a child was run over by a vehicle and killed some time back at one of the Indiana State Parks when on one of those scooter type hover boards. The end result, anything battery operated is now not permitted on the DNR roads.

Again, it's the new rule in Indiana, but it's not being enforced everywhere (yet). I suppose another serious incident has to occur before the DNR and the state go serious about this.

Just an FYI if you camp at any Indiana DNR property.

Perfect case for age discrimination lawsuits against those wanting to limit ebikes.

That makes as much sense as banning juice boxes in elementary schools because some kid stabbed another kid with the straw to a juice box. Apply a solution that does not fit the problem.

Maybe a hitch receiver bike carrier?
We put a hitch carrier on ours for a generator, but we never take our generator with us. I put our ebikes on it for a while but the get pretty dirty from road dust back there. We fold them up an put them in the back of the truck forward of the hitch.
I put a yoga mat in the bed of the truck to keep them from scratching up.
