Mattress Upgrade

I am a full timer and have a 2019 3121 RL with a king bed in it, I put a Tempur-pedic topper on top of the original mattress and thought that might solve my problem but the mattress is too soft. I’ve looked at several websites that claim to be RV mattresses but not sure which ones I can trust. Wanted to reach out to this forum to see what experiences other Montana owners might have with a replacement mattress for the original. The sleep number bed sounds really good but it’s just quite expensive even though money is no option but wanted to hear if anyone had experiences with a different type of mattress. Thank you for any input in advance!

I think you'll find mattress preferences are like auto preferences, gas vs diesel and on and on. Folks like all kinds of different things for different reasons. After trying many/most options we go with pocketed coil springs. Put them in/on everything. We now use Denver Mattress which we have all around us, great selection and great staff.

Check a 4 inch pure latex topper. Natural latex is a heavy but soft natural product that will support you better than any man made foam and will never sagg.

Are you talking about the Montana hybrid, the plush sounds pretty nice and if you don’t like it you can donate it someplace and get your money back....

Had two twins in our class C. Loved them so much we immediately bought one for our Montana.

My back is sort of a train wreck.

We had a custom mattress made for us out of latex foam, RV King with the radius corners, and with it fully upholstered on both sides, so it can be flipped occasionally, and it is not hot to sleep on like a bare foam topper. This was one our better upgrades with our rig.

We've gone with the Sleep Number or Sleep Comfort mattress and have had no problems with it and won't go back to the regular or foam mattress. We have three of them total and sleep like a baby with all of them.

Same here with the R5 sleep number, best sleep of my life.

Thanks all for the mattress suggestions. I’ll do some more research. Agree this is an expensive decision no matter which way we go.

We have been sleeping on a 10 inch and a 4 inch pure natural latex foam mattress and topper for 10 years. This simply is not true and both the mattress and topper is like new. They simply last forever. If I sweated like a whowouldatthrought I would have got rid of it 10 years ago.

I have used this mattress on my last 5th wheel and it is a great mattress, but everyone has their own taste. Told my brother and he bought one for his 5th wheel and him and his wife love it.

Just buy a residential king. It will fit. It’s four inches wider but that’s only two inches per side. Worth the loss of space. RV mattresses are expensive.

Probably the #1 first upgrade everyone does. Lot's of places to buy, we were lucky enough to get maybe the best bed we ever owned at a local store. They delivered, took away the old one and didn't cost 4 figures, not even close.

Try wildernessrvmattress.com. The Montana Hybrid is one we’re looking at. Also Dynasty or Brooklyn Bedding. Do your research, or it’s an expensive mistake....

We added a 2" topper to the OEM mattress. I was good with that. DW was not. We got a Sleep Number RV king size. Now we are both happy. She has her # I have my #.
AND it is lighter and very easy to handle when making the bed. Just pump it up firm (#80) and slide it around.

Same thing my MIL said.... Maybe there's a latex foam out there that "breathes"....but I've never seen it, or been on it. For you it may be true, for me and others I know - not so.

Sleep Number

Include us in the Sleep Number group. Same one we have at home, so some mornings hard to tell where we are. Plus, and a big plus it is, weight is virtually nothing (air bed).

But, ask 10 people, get 11 opinions!
